The default Dealer Code on the IQ5 NS is 2222. The Dealer Code provides the highest level of access in the IQ Installer app, including every Installer Setting plus Master Reset and Dealer Branding, features that neither the Installer nor Master Code can reach on their own at any time.

What the Dealer Code Unlocks

The IQ5 NS (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) uses the same five-tier user hierarchy as the IQ Panel 5 and IQ5 Hub: Dealer, Installer, Master, User, and Guest, plus a separate Duress code. The Dealer Code sits at the very top of that hierarchy. It has access to everything the Installer Code can do, plus two things the Installer Code cannot touch: Master Reset, which restores the panel to factory settings, and Dealer Branding, which controls the contact information tied to the account.

Because Dealer Branding is Dealer-only, it's the mechanism monitoring companies use to make sure their support contact information, not a competitor's, is associated with the account. This matters for any security system that changes monitoring providers, since updating this field is part of properly transferring service to a new company. Since the IQ5 NS has no display, all of this is managed through the IQ Installer app rather than on the panel itself.

How to Access Dealer Settings

1. Open the IQ Installer app and connect to the panel. The app communicates directly with the IQ5 NS over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to load its configuration menus.

2. Enter the Dealer Code when prompted. The default Dealer Code is 2222. Entering it here, rather than an Installer or Master Code, determines the level of access you get in the app.

3. Navigate to Dealer Settings. This section includes the same categories the Installer Code can reach, plus the additional Dealer-only options like Dealer Branding.

4. Touch Dealer Branding to update contact information. This page lets you edit the Dealer Name, Email, Phone Number, Zip Code, Website, and Tag Lines associated with the account. Dealer Contact fields allow up to 50 characters each.

Changing the Default Dealer Code

The Dealer Code should be changed from its factory default of 2222 as part of a professional installation, the same way the Installer Code and Master Code should be changed from 1111 and 1234. Leaving any of these codes at the factory default gives anyone with basic knowledge of the panel a path to system-level access through the IQ Installer app. Since only Dealer, Installer, and Master codes are permitted to create or edit monitoring user codes, protecting the Dealer Code specifically also protects the entire user code structure underneath it.

If your Dealer Code has already been changed from the default and you don't know the current code, contact your monitoring company directly, since Alarm Grid can only reset or provide the Dealer Code for systems actively monitored through Alarm Grid.

Dealer Code vs. Installer and Master Codes

It's worth understanding where the Dealer Code fits relative to the other codes so you know which one to use for a given task. The Installer Code (default 1111) reaches every Installer Setting in the app but not Master Reset or Dealer Branding. The Master Code (default 1234) is meant for the homeowner, giving access to User Management, Wi-Fi settings, and sensor customization through the app, but not the deeper installer or dealer-level programming. If you're a homeowner and don't have a Dealer Code, that's expected, since it's intended for the monitoring company or installing dealer rather than the end user.

Why the Dealer Code Should Never Be Shared

Because the Dealer Code can trigger a Master Reset and rewrite the Dealer Branding contact information, it functions as a form of account-level control over the panel, not just a settings shortcut in the app. A Master Reset erases user codes, sensor programming, and most panel customization, restoring factory defaults, so an unauthorized Dealer Code holder could effectively lock a homeowner out of their own configuration or point support contact information toward a different, potentially fraudulent company. For this reason, homeowners generally shouldn't have or need the Dealer Code day to day, and monitoring companies should treat it with the same care as an administrative password rather than sharing it broadly among staff.
