What Is the Default Master Code for the IQ5 Hub System?

The default Master Code on the IQ5 Hub is 1234. The Master Code grants access to User Management, Advanced Settings, WIFI configuration, and sensor customization on the panel. Qolsys recommends changing this code immediately after the system is installed in your home for security purposes.

What the Master Code Does

The Qolsys IQ5 Hub (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) supports up to 242 user codes. The Master Code sits at the top of the user hierarchy. It provides full access to User Management, WIFI settings, Sound customization, sensor configuration, and all Advanced Settings menus. A Master Code user can create, edit, and delete other user codes on the system.

When you enter the Master Code at the Advanced Settings screen, you gain access to the full settings menu. The default Master Code of 1234 is set at the factory. For a new installation, this code is active from the moment the panel is powered on. It is important to change it before handing the system over to the end user.

User Code Hierarchy

The IQ5 Hub has five user types, each with a different access level. The Dealer Code (default 2222) provides the highest level of access, including Master Reset and Dealer Contact customization. The Installer Code (default 1111) provides access to all installer settings. The Master Code (default 1234) gives access to all user-related features and settings. User and Guest codes are limited to arming and disarming only. A Duress Code is also available, which disarms the system but simultaneously sends a silent duress signal to the monitoring station.

6-Digit Code Mode

The IQ5 Hub supports both 4-digit and 6-digit user codes. When 6-digit code mode is enabled in the panel settings, the system automatically appends "00" to all existing 4-digit codes. This means the default Master Code of 1234 becomes 123400 in 6-digit mode if the code has not been manually updated. If you enable 6-digit codes, make sure all users are aware of the new extended code format before they need to use it.

Changing the Default Master Code

To change the Master Code on the IQ5 Hub, swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Settings Tray, touch Settings, then touch Advanced Settings, and enter the current Master Code (1234 by default). From there, navigate to User Management and select the Master user to edit the code. Choose a code that is not easy to guess and avoid sequences like 1234 or repeated digits.

The IQ5 Hub is part of the broader Qolsys IQ Panel 5 security system family. It works with PowerG sensors natively and supports up to 128 PowerG security devices.
