What is the Default Master Code On a 2GIG Edge?

The default Master Code on a 2GIG Edge is 1111. This is the code that is assigned to the Master User slot when the system is brand-new, or after there has been a factory default of the Users settings. The Master Coe is the main code for disarming, and it can access certain system settings.

If you are the owner of a security system and the primary user, then you likely use the system's Master Code. If you are a secondary user, and you have your own separate code (different from the primary user), then you probably don't use the Master Code, but rather an individually programmed user code. The Master Code can be considered the "main code" for the system. There is only one (1) Master Code on the 2GIG Edge, and only the main user (usually the system's owner) should know and use that code.

When one discusses the default Master Code (i.e. the Master Code before it is ever changed and what it is reset to after a factory default of the Users settings), that default code is 1111. But having said that, the Master Code is almost always changed away from its default. Leaving the Master Code at its default is a major security risk. An intruder may easily guess the default Master Code and use it to gain full access to the system and the property that it is supposed to protect. With that in mind, if you are the owner of a 2GIG Edge Alarm System, and the Master Code is still set to its 1111 default, then it is strongly advised that you change the code as soon as possible.

For reference, changing the Master Code on a 2GIG Edge Security System is very easy. Begin from the main screen of the system. Press the settings icon (the gear) in the lower-right corner. When prompted for a code, you must provide the current Master Code (default 1111, which you are changing) or the current Installer Code (default 1561, usually kept at default). Knowing the Installer Code usually does not present a security risk). After providing one of those codes, choose the Users option. This will take you to the Users Menu.

Find the Master User at the top, and press the pencil icon to its right. Click on the arrow for the Access Code field. Then enter the new Master Code. You should choose a code that is easy for you to remember, but virtually impossible for someone to randomly guess. You must then confirm the new code by entering it a second time. This will change the Master Code. You can then return to the home screen by pressing the icon of the house in the bottom-right corner. Make sure that you remember the new Master Code so that you can use it to disarm your system. You will also use it to arm if the Quick-Arm feature is disabled.
