What Sensors Work with a Honeywell L5210 & L7000?
Any sensor from the Honeywell 5800 Series of wireless devices will work with a Honeywell L5210 & L7000. These sensors are generally the best devices to use with these systems. Alternatively, a Honeywell 5800C2W can be programmed with the system so that hardwired sensors can be used.
The L5210 and L7000 are very similar panels that are both part of Honeywell's LYNX Touch Series. Any sensor that works with the L5210 will also function with the L7000. Since these are wireless security systems, we generally recommend using wireless sensors with these panels. Wireless sensors are usually the easiest for DIY users to install and program, and they eliminate the need to run wires throughout the home or business. Both the L5210 and L7000 are readily capable of connecting with wireless sensors, and no additional add-ons will be required.
When deciding on which wireless sensors to use with a LYNX Touch System, we typically advise users to select sensors from the Honeywell 5800 Series. These sensors are all incredibly reliable and extremely easy to set up with a wireless Honeywell panel. Most of these sensors feature a signal range of approximately 200 feet. If this range is not long enough, it can be extended using a wireless repeater, such as the Honeywell 5800RP.
However, many people who purchase an L5210 or L7000 are hoping to use existing hardwired sensors that were previously used with their old system. This is also possible using a device known as the Honeywell 5800C2W. The 5800C2W is a wired to wireless converter that will allow hardwired sensors to function with a wireless security system. The hardwired sensors will connect with the 5800C2W through hardwired connections, and the 5800C2W will connect with the security system wirelessly. From there, all of the hardwired sensors can be programmed with the L5210 or L7000 as wireless zones. This is a quick and effective way to upgrade an older security system, while still retaining all of your old hardwire sensors.
