What User Types Are Available on the IQ5 NS Security System?

The IQ5 NS has five user code types: Dealer (default 2222), Installer (default 1111), Master (default 1234), User, Guest, and Duress. Each provides a different level of system access. All user codes are created and managed through the IQ Installer app on your iOS or Android mobile device.

User Code Overview

The IQ5 NS (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) is a screenless security system that supports up to 242 user codes across six types. All user code management is done through the IQ Installer app — navigate to Configuration, then User Management to add, edit, or delete codes. The hierarchy runs from Dealer at the top down to Duress at the bottom. Only Dealer, Installer, and Master code users can manage other codes.

Dealer Code (Default: 2222)

The Dealer Code provides the highest level of access including Dealer Branding, Master Reset, and all dealer-level settings. The default is 2222. This code is used by the installing dealer and should be changed after installation. Only one Dealer Code can exist on the system at a time.

Installer Code (Default: 1111)

The Installer Code provides access to sensor programming, Z-Wave devices, WIFI settings, Security and Arming configuration, and System Tests through the IQ Installer app. The default is 1111. Change this after installation to protect system programming from unauthorized access.

Master Code (Default: 1234)

The Master Code is the primary homeowner code. It provides access to User Management and all user-facing settings through the IQ Installer app. The Master Code user can add, edit, and delete User and Guest codes. The default is 1234 — change it before handing the system to the end user.

User and Guest Codes

User codes allow household members to arm and disarm the system using a keypad or keyfob. They cannot access any system settings. Guest codes have the same arm and disarm access but can be set to expire on a specific date — ideal for temporary access for house cleaners, contractors, or guests. Both types are added through the IQ Installer app under Configuration, then User Management. Each code is identified by name so the activity log shows exactly who used the system, which is especially useful with a monitoring plan.

Duress Code

A Duress code disarms the system normally while simultaneously sending a silent duress signal to the monitoring station. Nothing indicates anything unusual to an intruder. The monitoring station receives the signal and can dispatch emergency services. The Duress code must be different from all other codes on the system. Only one Duress code can be active at a time. Add it through the IQ Installer app under Configuration, then User Management.
