Why Can’t I Get Into Programming On My Partitioned IQ Panel 2 Plus?

You can't get into programming on your partitioned IQ Panel 2 Plus because you are entering the incorrect code when logging into the system. You need to key in the Installer Code (default 1111) or Dealer Code (default 2222) when logging-in to make the programming menu available.

A partition refers to a sectioned-off portion of an alarm system that is controlled separately from other sections of the system. Each system zone is assigned to a partition so that it can be controlled along with the other zones on that partition. You might have one system partition armed and secured so that its zones are able to trigger alarms, while another partition is disarmed so that its sensors can be faulted without causing alarms.

On a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus System running Firmware Update 2.3.0 or higher, you can have up to four (4) partitions set up within the system. You will first need to enable partitions for the system. To do this, start from the main screen of the system, and click the small grey bar at the top. Then choose Settings > Advanced Settings > enter the Installer Code (default 1111) > Installation > Installer Settings > scroll down to Partitions. Then check the box next to Partitions. You will then be asked if you want to enable partitions. Click OK. Then enter your Installer Code (default 1111) to confirm. Partitions will now be enabled for the system.

It is important to note that only partitions with at least one (1) assigned sensor will be visible. Even if you have system partitions enabled, you will not be able to access a partition if there are no sensors assigned to it. If you want to switch between available partitions just scroll up or down from the main system screen. This is shown in the GIF below.

After enabling partitions, the way you log-in to the system will change. When the screen goes blank, either by timing out or by pressing and quickly releasing the side button, you will need to pull it back up by either tapping the screen or pressing the side button again. When partitions are enabled, you will be immediately prompted to enter a code. This differs from if partitions are not enabled, as you will not be prompted immediately to enter the code if only one partition is in use.

When you go to enter a code with partitions enabled, you can use any valid code to access the system. However, if you want to access programming you MUST enter either the Installer Code (default 1111) or the Dealer Code (default 2222). This will tell the system that you are a user who is authorized to enter system programming and make system changes. If you just enter your Master Code or a standard user code, then these advanced settings will not be accessible.

Therefore, if you have partitions enabled and you need to make programming changes to your system, make sure you enter your Installer Code or your Dealer Code at the above screen. By doing so, you will be able to successfully access Advanced Settings and make system changes. Please note that if you don't have partitions enabled on the system, then you will not be required to enter your Installer Code or Dealer Code until you actually attempt to enter the Advanced Settings Menu.
