Why Does the Siren Sound When I Arm Using a Honeywell 5834-4 Key Fob?

The reason that the siren sounds when you Arm using a Honeywell 5834-4 Key Fob is because you have the Arm-Confirm option enabled. This feature helps a user confirm that their system was Armed Away successfully using a key fob or keypad. You can turn off this feature to stop the sound.

If a system has Arm-Confirm enabled, then the system will produce a brief siren tone whenever they Arm their system Away using a key fob or keypad. A user can adjust this setting to include key fobs only, keypads only or both key fobs and keypads. They can also turn-off the option entirely to prevent the system from producing an Arm-Confirm sound.

The purpose of the Arm-Confirm feature is to let the user know that an Arm Away command has gone through successfully so that they know to exit the premises immediately. The user should hear the siren tone and know that the key fob or keypad command went through as intended. Please note that some panels may not have this feature, and the system will not produce any unusual sounds or tones when Arming using a key fob or keypad.

Some users may find the feature to be annoying. If that is the case, they can complete the following steps to turn-off the Arm-Confirm sound on a Honeywell LYNX Touch or Honeywell Lyric Panel:

1. Enter programming. Begin from the main screen. Choose Security > More (Lynx Touch only > Tools > Installer Code (default 4112) > Program. You are now in programming.

2. Open the Sounder Menu. Press the down arrow on the right side of the screen. Then find the Sounder option, and click on it to select it. You will enter the Sounder Menu.

3. Adjust the setting. You can click on the Arm-Confirm option to toggle between selections. If you want to disable the sound for a 5834-4 Key Fob, you should choose either "None" or "RF Keypad". Continue when the appropriate selection has been made.

4. Save and exit. Choose "Save" in the bottom-right corner. You can then use the return arrow in the upper-right corner to return to the main menu. Make sure to choose "Yes" when asked if you want to allow the Installer to re-enter programming if you are using a LYNX Touch System.
