The 2GIG LTEA-A-GC2 allows your 2GIG Go!Control GC2 Panel to communicate across the AT&T LTE Network and connect with the Alarm.com Servers. You will need an active alarm monitoring plan with cellular service to use this communicator. For Alarm Grid customers, this is a Gold Plan or higher.
A cellular communicator is perhaps the most important upgrade you can make for your security system. Cellular connectivity is extremely reliable, and LTE networks provide very fast speeds. This is the best way to ensure that your GC2 System is monitored at all times. You can also pair the 2GIG LTEA-A-GC2 with a 2GIG Go!Bridge and a 2GIG XCVR2-345 Transceiver to allow for dual-path connectivity with both cellular and IP service.
With the 2GIG LTEA-A-GC2, you can control your GC2 System through Alarm.com. This an interactive service platform that can be accessed through a web browser or through the Alarm.com Mobile App on Android and iOS devices. By accessing Alarm.com, you can arm and disarm your system, check its current status, view the live feed for any programmed Alarm.com Cameras, control your Z-Wave smart home devices and more.
Please note that your 2GIG GC2 must be running firmware version 1.19.3 or higher to support the 2GIG LTEA-A-GC2. If you want to check your firmware, you can review this helpful FAQ. If you need to upgrade your firmware, you will need either an Update Cable or an Easy Updater Tool. You can also have the firmware update pushed down over-the-air (OTA) if your system is already active with Alarm.com. You would need to do this before replacing or deactivating the existing firmware. More information on updating this firmware can be found in this FAQ.
Upgrading to an LTE communicator is very important for GC2 users. LTE stands for long-term evolution, and it provides faster and more reliable connectivity than the older 3G networks. Cellular service providers are in the process of shutting down their 3G networks. These companies have promised to support their LTE networks well into the distant future. By upgrading to LTE, you can rest assured that your GC2 System will stay monitored for many years to come.
We also offer a Verizon LTE Communicator for the GC2, which is available here.
