Can a 5834-4 key fob work on multiple security systems?
The Honeywell 5834-4 security key fob can enrolled to an unlimited amount of alarm systems. This actually goes for just about any Honeywell wireless device. As long as the key fob is programmed into a compatible security system it will communicate with multiple systems. Whether this is numerous systems in a single space or different locations, the key fob simply transmits a signal that will be received by any system programmed to see it. For example, if you have an alarm system at work and at home you can program the same serial number into both systems and use the same fob for both!
The 5834-4 is a 4 button key fob designed for wireless control (i.e. arming, disarming and panic trigger) of any security system that supports Honeywell's 5800 series RF devices. Honeywell's LYNX Touch kits which include the L5200 and the L7000 all include a key fob. It offers an easy way to arm/disarm your security system when within approximately 200 feet of the RF receiver.
The wireless range on this unit grants users the ability to control their system from outside the secured premise. This means that you can further protect your property by lowering or eliminating entry/exit delay periods. By setting your doors to perimeter (no entry/exit delay), you will make your home or business much safer from possible intrusion and theft. By eliminating entry delays, your system will proactively trigger an alarm based on any entry point being faulted. In most cases, this will scare off an intruder before he has the chance to steal anything. Most importantly, this protects alarm owners from "smash and grab" events that result in the alarm system being compromised before the alarm signal is sent out to the central station.
