Does a 5800COMBO Work w/ a Lyric Alarm System?
Yes, a 5800COMBO does work with a Lyric Alarm System. The Honeywell 5800COMBO is a Honeywell 5800 Series Sensor that uses one-way communication at 345 MHz. This makes it compatible with the Honeywell Lyric Alarm System. It requires five wireless system zones for full functionality.
The Honeywell 5800COMBO is a wireless smoke/heat detector and carbon monoxide sensor. It uses photoelectric technology to detect smoke, while the heat sensor activates at a fixed temperature of 135 degrees Fahrenheit. The device also offers freeze detection, which activates at 41 degrees Fahrenheit and lower.
When pairing with the Honeywell Lyric Controller, up to five total wireless zones can be used. These zones are for smoke/heat detection, smoke maintenance, low temperature detection, carbon monoxide detection, and end of product life. Additionally, tamper monitoring is also automatically enrolled, with no special programming being required.
The table below shows the programming:
|SMOKE Sensor Loops - Serial Number 1||CO Sensor Loops - Serial Number 2|
|Loop 1 - Heat/Smoke Alarm (Program as Fire)||Loop 1 - Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarm - (Use CO Zone Type 14)|
|Loop 2 - Maintenance (Program as 24 Hr. Trouble or 24 Hr. Auxiliary)||Loop 2 - End-of-Life (Trouble) (Program as 24 Hr. Auxiliary)|
|Loop 3 - Low Temperature - Freeze Warning (Program as 24 Hr. Auxiliary or Day/Night)||
|Loop 4 - Tamper (Automatically enrolled, no special programming required)||
Each zone can be auto-enrolled on the Lyric System. To do this, put the Lyric in its wireless enrollment mode for learning-in new sensors. Then press and hold the appropriate test button (either smoke test or CO test) for enrolling that function. The CO Sensor Loops use a Serial Number that is one digit higher than the Smoke Sensor Loops. When configuring the zone settings, make sure to set the appropriate Loop Number for that function. This helpful FAQ covers the entire process for enrolling the 5800COMBO to the Lyric.
In addition to the 5800COMBO, Honeywell also offers the SiXCOMBO, which is specifically designed for use with the Lyric Alarm System. The SiXCOMBO offers smoke, heat and CO detection, just like the 5800COMBO. It also uses 128-bit AES encrypted wireless communication, which the 5800COMBO does not offer. The SiXCOMBO is also the only one of the two that offers a one-go-all-go feature. However, only the 5800COMBO offers freeze detection.
