How Do I Add a 2GIG Glass Break Detector to the IQ Panel 5?

To add a 2GIG glass break detector to the IQ Panel 5, install the IQ QC0005-840 345 MHz daughter card first. Go to Advanced Settings, Installation, Devices, Security Sensors, touch Auto Learn, press the test button on the GB100-345, set Sensor Type to Glass Break, and choose a Sensor Group.

Before You Begin

The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) has a built-in glass break detector that covers the room where the panel is installed. The 2GIG-GB100-345 is a 345 MHz wireless glass break detector that extends coverage to additional rooms where the built-in sensor cannot reach — such as rooms with large windows, glass doors, or skylights. Because it operates on the 345 MHz frequency, the IQ QC0005-840 345 MHz daughter card must be installed before enrollment.

The Sensor Group determines when the detector is active. Group 13 (Glass Break) is active in both Stay and Away modes — it triggers an instant alarm whenever glass breaking is detected regardless of how the security system is armed. Group 17 (Glass Break Away Only) is active only when the system is armed to Away — useful for rooms you occupy in Stay mode. Note that 345 MHz glass break sensors use Loop 1 only.

Steps to Add the Glass Break Detector

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and touch Settings. The Settings page opens.

2. Touch Advanced Settings and enter the Installer Code (1111 by default). The Advanced Settings menu opens.

3. Touch Installation, then Devices, then Security Sensors. The Security Sensors menu opens.

4. Touch Auto Learn Sensor. The panel enters listening mode and waits for a 345 MHz signal.

5. Press the test button on the 2GIG-GB100-345. The panel chimes and displays the DL ID. Source shows SRF345. Leave Loop at Loop 1 — the only option for 345 MHz glass break detectors.

6. Touch OK to confirm the sensor. The sensor configuration screen appears.

7. Set the Sensor Type to Glass Break, choose a Sensor Group and Name, then touch Add New. Use Group 13 for protection in both Stay and Away modes, or Group 17 for Away mode only. Enter a name such as Living Room Glass Break or Bedroom Windows and touch Add New.

Placement and Testing

Mount the GB100-345 on the ceiling or wall within the recommended detection range of the windows it is covering — typically up to 25 feet. The detector listens for the frequency signature of breaking glass, so it must be within earshot of the glass it is protecting. After enrollment, test by pressing and holding the test button until the panel triggers a glass break alarm, confirming the detector is communicating correctly. Add a monitoring plan to ensure glass break events are reported to the central station for emergency dispatch.
