How Do I Add a Z-Wave Device to a Honeywell Home Tuxedo?

You can add a Z-Wave device to a Honeywell Home Tuxedo by accessing the Z-Wave Setup Menu on the Tuxedo, clearing the device from the network, and then enrolling the device. Paired devices can be controlled locally at the Tuxedo and remotely from Total Connect 2.0 if the system is monitored.

The Tuxedo is a wired touchscreen keypad for a Honeywell VISTA. It also doubles as a Z-Wave Plus controller. When you add a Z-Wave device to the Tuxedo, you can control it locally from within the Devices Menu on the Tuxedo. If the Tuxedo is connected with a VISTA System that is monitored with access to Total Connect 2.0 for automation, then the device will also be made available for remote control from the TC2 platform. Paired Z-Wave devices can be set up with smart scenes for automatic operation based on a schedule or with certain system events.

Complete the following steps to pair a Z-Wave device with a Resideo Tuxedo:

1. Access Z-Wave Device Management. Start from the main screen on the Tuxedo. Choose Devices. Then click the Z-Wave Setup icon at the bottom of the screen. This is the circle with the letter Z and the two (2) curved lines. You will enter the Z-Wave Device Management Menu.

2. Clear the device. It is always a good idea to clear the Z-Wave device from the network before attempting to pair it. Even a brand-new Z-Wave device may have some residual data leftover from the factory, so clearing first is always best practice. You can successfully clear most devices even if they are not actively paired with a Z-Wave network.

Click the Remove Device icon at the bottom of the screen. The Tuxedo will begin listening for an inclusion/exclusion signal from a Z-Wave device. Then activate the inclusion/exclusion function for your Z-Wave device. The device may have a button for this purpose, or it may require you to input a specific command or code. Refer to the manual for the Z-Wave device for more information. The Tuxedo should display that a device has been removed from the network.

3. Pair the device. You will now begin pairing the Z-Wave device. Click Add Device at the bottom of the screen. Then activate the inclusion/exclusion function on the Z-Wave device. This is often the same button or command you used when clearing the device. The Tuxedo should display a message stating that a new device has been added. It may take a second for the command to go through. Depending on the Z-Wave device added, you may get a security notification stating that the device is using the S0 protocol. This is normal, and you can just click OK.

4. Return home. Press the picture of the house in the upper-right corner to return to the home screen.
