How Do I Adjust My Thermostat on the IQ5 Hub Alarm System?

Controlling a Thermostat From the Panel

The IQ5 Hub (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) can control a compatible Z-Wave thermostat right from its touchscreen. Once a thermostat is paired, a Thermostat Page appears on the panel's main interface, so you can change the temperature without pulling out your phone or walking to the thermostat itself. It is one of the most convenient parts of tying climate control into your home automation setup.

From the Thermostat Page you can raise or lower the target temperature, switch the system mode between Heat, Cool, Auto, and Off, and set the fan to On or Automatic. The page also shows the current room temperature and the thermostat's battery level alongside your target, so you always know where things stand. Because this lives on the primary interface rather than in Advanced Settings, no code is needed to make a quick adjustment.

Before You Begin

Your thermostat must already be paired to the panel as a Z-Wave device. If you have not paired it yet, see our guide on how to add a thermostat to the IQ5 Hub first, then come back to this article. This matters because the Thermostat Page only appears once a thermostat is added; if you swipe over and do not see it, that means no thermostat is paired yet. You can add up to 10 thermostats, and each one appears on the page so you can control them individually.

Adjust Your Thermostat

1. Swipe over to the Thermostat Page. From the home screen, swipe over to the Thermostat Page, which appears on the panel's main interface once a thermostat is paired.

2. Select your thermostat. If you have more than one thermostat, swipe up and down to move between them and land on the one you want. The panel shows its current room temperature, battery level, and current target setting.

3. Set the temperature. Touch the up and down arrows to raise or lower the target temperature. The panel sends the change to the thermostat right away.

4. Set the mode and fan. Touch the mode to switch the thermostat between Heat, Cool, Off, or Automatic, which changes between heat and cool as needed to hold your target. Touch the fan to set it to On or Automatic. Your selections take effect immediately.

Tips

The panel is just one way to control the thermostat. You can also adjust it from the Alarm.com app while away from home, and build schedules or scenes that change the temperature automatically, such as setting it back when the system is armed away. If your thermostat is not showing on the panel, confirm it is paired as a Z-Wave device and within range, since a thermostat that has dropped off the network will not appear on the Thermostat Page.
