How Do I Arm the Qolsys IQ5 Hub Security System in Stay Mode?

To arm the Qolsys IQ5 Hub in Stay mode, touch the Arm Stay icon on the main arming screen. Stay mode protects your home by arming all door and window sensors while keeping interior motion sensors inactive, allowing you to freely move throughout your entire home without triggering alarms.

The Qolsys IQ5 Hub features a 7-inch touchscreen display that makes arming your security system quick and intuitive. The main home screen displays your arming options prominently, with Arm Stay and Arm Away buttons visible at all times. When you arm in Stay mode, the system protects all perimeter sensors while bypassing interior motion detectors, perfect for nighttime security or when you are home during the day.

Steps to Arm in Stay Mode

  1. Make sure the system is disarmed and all doors and windows are closed. The lock icon on the home screen should be green, indicating the panel is disarmed. Any open sensors will appear in the sensor list on the arming screen.
  2. Touch the green lock icon on the left side of the home screen. The arming screen opens showing Arm Stay and Arm Away options. Any open or active sensors are listed on the right side of the screen and must be closed or bypassed before arming.
  3. Touch Arm Stay. The panel arms immediately with no exit delay by default. Door and window sensors are now active while interior motion sensors remain inactive.
  4. Verify Armed Stay status. The lock icon changes to orange to confirm the system is armed in Stay mode.

Using Additional Arming Options

Before arming, you can access additional options by touching the >> icon on the right side of the arming screen. This reveals three options: Bypass allows you to exclude specific door and window sensors from the armed system by touching the circle next to each sensor. Exit Sounds lets you silence the countdown beeps during exit delay. Entry Delay toggles whether the panel gives you time to disarm after opening a delay door. These options apply only to your next arming sequence.

Auto Stay Feature

The IQ5 Hub includes an Auto Stay feature that automatically switches from Away mode to Stay mode if no entry/exit door is opened during the exit delay. This prevents false alarms if you arm the system in Away mode but remain inside. Auto Stay is enabled by default and can be toggled in Settings > Advanced Settings > Security and Arming. You can also integrate Z-Wave devices and motion sensors for enhanced automation capabilities.

If Secure Arming is enabled in your panel settings, you will need to enter a valid user code before the system arms. The default Master Code is 1234 and the default Installer Code is 1111. You can add additional user codes through Settings > Advanced Settings > User Management.
