How Do I Arm the IQ5 Hub Security System in Stay Mode?

To arm the Qolsys IQ5 Hub in Stay mode, tap the Disarmed icon on the main screen, then tap Arm Stay. Arming Stay protects your home by arming all door and window sensors while bypassing all interior zones. This allows you to freely move throughout your entire home without triggering alarms.

The Qolsys IQ5 Hub, available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE, features a 7-inch touchscreen display that makes arming your security system quick and simple. There are multiple ways to arm the IQ5 Hub. You can use the panel's touchscreen or a secondary keypad, arm using a wireless key fob, or arm through the Alarm.com end-user app or website. Here, we'll concentrate on arming through the panel touchscreen or secondary keypad.

Steps to Arm in Stay Mode

  1. Secure the perimeter. Make sure all doors and windows are secured. Any door or window that's left open at the time of arming will be automatically bypassed if the Auto Bypass feature is enabled. You can check this by touching the gray bar at the top center of the screen and dragging it down, then tapping Settings > Advanced Settings > Entering Installer Code (default: 1111) > Installation > Security and Arming. A bypassed sensor will be ignored by the system and could leave you vulnerable to intrusion.
  2. Touch the green lock icon. Tap the unlocked icon that shows "System Disarmed" located on the left side of the main screen. The arming screen opens showing Arm Stay and Arm Away options. Any open or active sensors are listed on the right side of the screen and must be either closed or bypassed before arming.
  3. Touch Arm Stay. By default, the panel arms immediately with no exit delay. This setting is known as "Arm Stay - No Delay". It can also be found by going to Settings > Advanced Settings > Entering Installer Code (default: 1111) > Installation > Security and Arming. Once armed stay, door and window sensors are active while interior sensors (usually motion detectors) are inactive (bypassed).
  4. Verify Armed Stay status. The icon changes to an amber locked image and the status shows "System Armed Stay". If voice is enabled, it will also speak this status.

Using Additional Arming Options

Before arming, you can access additional options by touching the > icon on the right side of the arming screen. This reveals three options: Bypass allows you to exclude specific door and window sensors from the armed system by touching the circle next to each sensor. Exit Sounds allows you to toggle the countdown beeps during exit delay on or off. Entry Delay toggles whether the panel gives you time to disarm after opening a delay door once the system arms. These options apply only to your next arming sequence.

Auto Stay Feature

The IQ5 Hub includes an Auto Stay feature that automatically switches from Away mode to Stay mode if no entry/exit door is opened during the exit delay. This prevents false alarms if you arm the system in Away mode but remain inside. Auto Stay is enabled by default and can be toggled in Settings > Advanced Settings > Enter Installer Code (default: 1111) > Installation > Security and Arming.

If Secure Arming is enabled in your panel settings, you will need to enter a valid user code before the system arms. The default Master Code is 1234. You can add additional user codes through Settings > Advanced Settings > Enter Master Code > User Management.
