How Do I Bypass a Sensor on the Qolsys IQ Panel 4?

To bypass a zone on an IQ Panel 4, the panel has to be in a disarmed state. Next, click the green Disarmed icon. Then select the arrow icon, after seeing the arming options. This will display the sensor status on the right of the screen. Select each of the sensors you want to bypass.

The Qolsys IQ Panel 4 is a 7" All-In-One touchscreen alarm system. It has many modern features that seamlessly integrate with Z-Wave smart home devices. It offers 128 zones and 242 users. The panel can be purchased in black or white and comes in different "flavors", so you can continue to use existing RF sensors when replacing an older wireless panel. What we refer to as "flavors" are the various legacy RF receiver options available for the IQ Panel 4. These include the 319.5 Mhz (Qolsys/GE/Interlogix) flavor, 345 Mhz (Honeywell/2gig) flavor, and 433 Mhz (DSC) flavor. All three (3) panel flavors that offer legacy RF receivers also support the 915 MHz PowerG frequency sensors. There is also a PowerG-only IQ Panel 4 version that does not offer legacy receiver support and comes only in white. In addition to panel color and receiver options, each IQ Panel 4 comes with either a Verizon or an AT&T LTE communicator built in.

Bypassing a zone can allow you to arm around faulted or troubled zones. It can also enable you to leave certain chosen areas unprotected while you protect or arm others. It is a very useful option and something you want to know how to do. When the zone is bypassed, it will be completely ignored by the system. It will not cause any fault or alarm for that zone. It will not send any notifications if the zone faults, the cover is removed, or the battery level drains, while it is bypassed. Bypassing essentially is temporarily disabling everything that zone will normally do. Life safety fire zones, cannot be bypassed. This is for your protection.

Zone bypassing is a temporary event. The next time the panel is disarmed, the bypass clears and the zone is returned to normal operation. If the bypass was because of a trouble condition, the zone will go back into trouble and beep, if the trouble is still present. After the disarm, when the zone bypass is removed, it will again fault, and therefore will chime and send notifications, if enabled. If you want the zone to be bypassed again, you would need to repeat the bypass procedure.

To bypass a zone on an IQ Panel 4, follow the steps below:

1. Select the Green Unlock Icon. On the security status screen, touch the green unlock icon.

2. Touch the Arrow Icon. You will see an Arm Atay and Away option on this screen. Just to the right of that, you will notice a single right arrow. Click this icon to bring up the arming options page.

3. Select the Zones to be Bypassed. Along with arming options, this page displays the sensor statuses. You can toggle between viewing 'Active', aka faulted zones, and 'All' zones. Then you select all desired zones that you want to bypass.

4. Select your arming option. After selecting the zones to be bypassed, you must arm the panel, either 'Stay" or 'Away'. This keeps the zones bypassed until the panel is disarmed. There is no way to bypass a zone without arming the panel.

Manually bypassing individual sensors is not an option when arming remotely (this changed in panel firmware version 4.1.0+, you can now use Alarm.com to bypass individual zones, regardless of their status, with the exception of life safety zones). When you arm through the Alarm.com mobile app or customer website, it will automatically bypass all zones that are in a faulted or troubled condition. To be able to automatically bypass all faulted or open zones when arming from the panel, you must enable the 'Auto Bypass' feature in your panel's Security and Arming settings.
