How Do I Disarm Using a Honeywell Tuxedo Touch Keypad?

You can Disarm using a Honeywell Tuxedo Touch Keypad by choosing Security, then choosing Disarm, and then providing a valid code. The Master Code or a standard user code can always be used to Disarm. The Installer Code or a Guest/Babysitter Code can only Disarm if that code was used to Arm.

The Honeywell Tuxedo Touch is not a security system. It is a touchscreen keypad for a Honeywell VISTA Alarm Panel. You can use the Tuxedo Touch Keypad to Arm and Disarm your system as needed. The Tuxedo is often a preferable option over a traditional push-button keypad, as the colorful menus are typically easier to understand. Knowing how to Disarm using a Tuxedo Touch Keypad is essential for getting the most out of the device.

Remember that the Tuxedo Touch can also be used to Arm a VISTA System. The three (3) available Arming Modes are Arm Away, Arm Stay, and Arm Night. More information on these Arming Modes can be found in this blog post. You can also technically Disarm the system when it isn't currently armed. Disarming while the system is not armed is sometimes referred to as a "double disarm". A double disarm may be performed to clear an alarm from the system.

Keep in mind that if you activate an Entry Delay period on your Tuxedo Touch, then you must Disarm before that Entry Delay expires. If you do not, then an alarm will occur on your system. Make sure to set the Entry Delay period for your system appropriately so that you have sufficient time to Disarm your system. If you set your system with too short of an Entry Delay period, then you may cause a false alarm.

For this FAQ, we will assume that your VISTA System is currently in an Armed State, and you are looking to put the system in a Disarmed State. If you are trying to perform an aforementioned "double disarm", the steps are very similar. The only difference is that the keypad will show "Ready to Arm" when you begin.

Complete the following steps to Disarm a VISTA System using a Tuxedo Touch Keypad:

1. Access Disarm option. First you must access the Disarm option. Choose Security From the main screen. Then choose the Disarm button on the following screen. You can see this sequence below. Note that the red bar at the top of the system indicates that it is currently Armed Stay.

2. Enter a code. You need to provide a valid code to Disarm the system. Your Master Code or a standard user code can Disarm at any time. The Installer Code or a Guest/Babysitter Code can only Disarm if that code was originally used to Arm the system. We never recommend Arming using the Installer Code, as it is a security risk.

3. Confirm the Disarm. After entering a successful code, you will be taken back to the previous screen. The bar at the top of the screen should be green, and it will say "Ready to Arm".
