How Do I Find and Watch Video Tutorials on the IQ5 Hub?

To watch video tutorials on the IQ5 Hub, touch the Message Center icon in the upper right corner of the home screen. When the Message Center opens, touch the Video Tutorials tab at the top. Browse available videos by scrolling through the thumbnails and touch any video to start playback.

Before You Begin

The IQ5 Hub (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) includes a built-in Message Center with a Video Tutorials section. These tutorials cover common topics related to your security system, including arming and disarming, sensor management, and system navigation. Watching these videos is a quick way to get familiar with your panel without needing a computer or phone. The panel needs an active WIFI connection to stream the video content, so make sure your panel is connected to your local network before starting.

Accessing and Watching Video Tutorials

The Video Tutorials section lives inside the Message Center, which you access from the home screen. The Message Center icon sits in the upper right corner of the display, next to the date and time. Once inside the Message Center, you will see tabs across the top for Contact Us, Video Tutorials, Alerts/Alarms, and Messages. The video tutorials are preloaded by your security provider and cover a range of topics to help you understand how your system works.

1. Locate the Message Center icon on the home screen. From the main home screen of your IQ5 Hub, look at the upper right corner of the display. You will see a small envelope or message icon next to the date and time. This is the Message Center icon. The icon appearance varies depending on your security provider's settings, but it is always in the upper right area of the header.

The Message Center opens and displays four tabs across the top of the screen: Contact Us, Video Tutorials, Alerts/Alarms, and Messages. By default, the Contact Us tab is selected, showing your security provider's contact information.

3. Touch the Video Tutorials tab. The Video Tutorials tab is the second tab from the left across the top of the Message Center. Touching it displays a grid of video thumbnails. Each thumbnail represents an instructional video covering a specific topic about your security system.

4. Browse the available video tutorials. Scroll through the video thumbnails to find a topic that interests you. The available videos are provided by your security provider and cover subjects like arming your system, adding sensors, using automation features, and navigating the panel interface. The selection of videos depends on what your provider has configured for your account.

5. Touch a video thumbnail to start playback. The video begins playing automatically on the panel screen. Standard video controls appear on screen during playback, allowing you to pause, resume, or scrub through the video. When you finish watching, touch the back button to return to the Video Tutorials grid and select another video, or close the Message Center entirely.

Tips

Video tutorials require an active WIFI connection to stream content to your panel. If the videos do not load or buffer during playback, check your panel's WIFI connection by swiping down from the top of the screen to open the Settings Tray and verifying the WIFI status. A strong, stable connection ensures smooth video playback without interruptions.

The Message Center also includes sections for viewing system alerts and alarms, reading messages from your provider, and finding your provider's contact information. These sections are useful for staying informed about your system's status and getting in touch with your monitoring provider when you need assistance. If you use Alarm.com with your IQ5 Hub, you can also find additional video content and support resources through the Alarm.com app on your phone or tablet.
