Why Am I receiving a "Duplicate User Code" Error in TC2?
The "Duplicate User Code" error comes up when attempting to enable partitions in Total Connect 2.0. It occurs with a panel when the same four-digit user code is assigned to two separate user numbers. You must resolve the duplicate user code error before you can continue with partitioning.
When Total Connect realizes that a partition-capable panel has zones assigned to partitions other than partition 1, it first does a check of user codes. If TC2 determines that there are duplicate user codes, the next time a Master or Admin user logs in, they will receive the error message outlined below:
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
1. Access the user page. Click the blue button marked "Go To User Page". There, you will see a list of user codes for the location in question, with duplicate users marked by a specific symbol shown below:
2. Review user information. Click the Blue Link on the user name for each user. Determine if both user codes will be changed, if one will remain the same and the other will be changed, or if one will remain and the other will be deleted:
If you attempt to press "Save" on either user code without correcting the duplicate code condition, you will receive an error message. You can press "Cancel" instead of "Save" to leave one user edit screen and go to the other. You may need to do this if you have decided that the code will keep the duplicate four-digit code and that the other user will be changed or deleted:
In our case, we have decided to delete the duplicate code. You could also choose to change the code. Press "Save" when finished:
3. Sync user codes. After either changing the duplicate code and saving, or deleting the code, go to Locations > Sync Users:
Go to Events and verify that the user sync has been completed successfully:
4. Log back in. Log out of Total Connect 2.0, and then log back in. If multiple locations are in use, go to the location that supports partitions. You will be prompted to "Enable Partitions". Follow these instructions to complete the partition setup in TC2.
