How Do I Run Power To A 2GIG GC3?
There are two ways users can run power to the 2GIG GC3 control panel. This is usually done with an 18-gauge 2-conductor wire that can be obtained from virtually any hardware store. However, the wiring process can be made even easier by using a Honeywell LT-Cable or a 2GIG AC2 Plug.
Using 2 conductor wire, measure the length of wire needed to run from the 2GIG GC3 panel to the included transformer. Usually 18 gauge wire is used, but other sizes such as 22 gauge and 16 gauge wire have been used successfully as well. The following guidelines are recommended: 22AWG - MAX distance 75ft, 20AWG - MAX distance 120ft, 18AWG - MAX distance 170ft , 16AWG - MAX distance 270ft.
To start, connect the wires to the transformer and screw to tighten. Then connect the positive wire to the PWR+ on the terminal board, and tighten with the terminal screw. Finally, connect the negative wire to the PWR- on the terminal board and tighten with the terminal screw.
The other option is the 2GIG AC2 Plug or the new and improved Honeywell LT-Cable. The LT Cable is 8 feet long, and it has been revamped to have two connectors and a barrel connector. Insert the LT Cable through the back cut of the GC3 panel, and plug in the barrel connector to the DC power adapter power jack located on the back of the panel.
Locate an outlet that is not connected to a wall switch. Attach the included wall bracket to the outlet, and secure it by tightening the screw. Before plugging in your transformer, install and connect the backup battery. Insert the battery connector pin into the PCB battery connector. The PCB battery connector is located just behind the DC barrel jack. Lastly, plug the transformer into the outlet, and secure it with a zip tie.
