Is a 5800COMBO / 5800CMBOV Compatible with IQ Panel 4?
The Qolsys IQ Panel 4 345 MHz panels (AT&T LTE Version and Verizon LTE Version) now support using the Honeywell 5800COMBO or 5800CMBOV. As of firmware version 4.6.1, the 5800CMBOV has been added to the RF compatibility list for the IQ4 panels. Functionally, these two detectors behave the same way.

Please note that what we say about compatibility with regard to the Qolsys IQ Panel 4 345 MHz versions is also true of the Qolsys IQ4 Hub 345 MHz (AT&T LTE Version or Verizon LTE Version), and the IQ4 NS (AT&T LTE Version & Verizon LTE Version) panels.
In the past, this question came up many times in our support department. We tested the compatibility and also worked with Qolsys to test it. Back then, it just didn't work properly so we began advising that customers not use the 5800COMBO or 5800CMBOV with any of the 345 MHz Qolsys panels. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are considered life-safety devices, so when installing, maintaining, and using these detectors, the utmost care should be taken to follow all installation instructions and guidance from both the device manufacturer and the panel manufacturer.
The new RF Compatibility List for firmware version 4.6+ lists the 5800CMBOV with loops 1, 2, and 3 being supported. That means Qolsys has tested the smoke and CO combo unit and knows it will work as advertised. Using any device that is not listed as compatible comes with risk. Alarm Grid always recommends the use of devices that are known to work properly.
It's no mystery why the 5800COMBO or 5800CMBOV is an attractive sensor. It offers smoke, heat, low temperature, and carbon monoxide protection in a single device. That translates into fewer devices mounted on your ceiling or walls and fewer trips up a ladder to periodically replace batteries. The batteries in the 5800COMBO or 5800CMBOV typically last about five (5) years. It takes four (4) CR123A Lithium batteries. When replacing batteries, only Panasonic CR123A batteries are recommended.
