What Causes an Arming Error on the Qolsys IQ5 Hub System?
An arming error on the Qolsys IQ5 Hub occurs when the system cannot arm due to open sensors, an incorrect user code, or unacknowledged trouble conditions. The panel displays open zones on the home screen and sounds an error tone. Close all sensors or bypass faulted zones to arm the system.
The Qolsys IQ5 Hub is a powerful security system that displays detailed sensor information on its touchscreen, making it easy to identify why the system cannot arm. The home screen shows all open or faulted sensors in a scrollable list on the right side. Understanding the common causes of arming errors helps you quickly resolve issues and secure your property.
Common Causes of Arming Errors
Open Sensors: The most common cause of an arming error is one or more sensors reporting an open status. This includes doors or windows that are physically open, or sensors that have lost communication with the panel. Open sensors appear in the sensor list on the right side of the home screen with an open icon.
Incorrect User Code: Entering an invalid user code triggers an error tone and prevents arming. The default Master Code is 1234. If Secure Arming is enabled in the installer settings, a valid user code is required to arm the system. After five incorrect code attempts, the panel locks access for 90 seconds.
Unacknowledged Trouble Conditions: If your installer has enabled trouble acknowledgment requirements, the system will not arm until you view and acknowledge any existing troubles. Access the Message Center by touching the message icon in the upper right corner to view and clear trouble conditions.
Low Panel Battery: If the Refuse Arming When Battery Low setting is enabled, the panel will not arm when the backup battery drops below 8%. This setting is required for certain compliance installations. Connect the panel to AC power and allow the battery to charge before attempting to arm.
Tampered Sensors: Sensors showing a tamper condition indicate the sensor cover has been removed or the sensor has been physically disturbed. When Auto Bypass is disabled, tampered sensors prevent arming. Inspect the sensor and secure its cover to clear the tamper condition.
Resolving Arming Errors
To resolve an arming error on the IQ5 Hub, check the sensor list on the right side of the home screen. Close any open doors and windows, then try arming again. If a sensor is malfunctioning or you need to arm with a zone open, touch the bypass option in the arming menu and select the sensor to bypass. Bypassed sensors will not trigger an alarm during the current arming period.
Auto Bypass Feature
The IQ5 Hub includes an Auto Bypass feature that is enabled by default. When Auto Bypass is on, the system automatically bypasses any open or tampered sensors when you arm, allowing the system to arm without manual intervention. The panel displays a bypass warning during the exit delay. This feature can be disabled by an installer for commercial or compliance installations where all zones must be secured before arming.
