What Is Quick Arm on the IQ5 Hub Alarm Security System?

Quick Arm on the IQ5 Hub allows you to arm the system in Stay or Away mode without entering a user code. This is controlled by the Secure Arming setting, which is disabled by default. When Secure Arming is off, no code is needed to arm the system from the home screen or the Alarm.com app.

How Quick Arm Works on the IQ5 Hub

The Qolsys IQ5 Hub (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) displays the arming options directly on the home screen. When Secure Arming is disabled, you can touch Stay or Away to arm the system immediately without being prompted for a code. The exit delay begins counting down right away, giving you time to leave the premises before the system is fully armed.

Quick Arm can also be triggered remotely through the Alarm.com app. When you arm the system from the app, no code entry is required at the panel regardless of the Secure Arming setting, since authentication is handled through your Alarm.com login. This makes it easy to arm the system from anywhere.

Secure Arming Setting

The Secure Arming setting is found in the installer settings of the IQ5 Hub under Security and Arming. When Secure Arming is enabled, the panel requires a valid user code before arming can begin. This setting is required for UL/cUL certified installations. When Secure Arming is disabled, which is the factory default, arming proceeds without a code prompt. The installer uses the default Installer Code (1111 by default) to access and configure this setting.

Stay Arming vs. Away Arming

Quick Arm works with both Stay and Away modes on the IQ5 Hub. Stay mode arms all perimeter sensors — doors and windows — while leaving interior motion sensors inactive. This mode is used when occupants remain inside the home. Away mode arms all sensors including interior motion detectors and is used when everyone leaves the premises. Both modes initiate the standard exit delay after Quick Arm is triggered.

Additional Arming Options

The IQ5 Hub provides additional arming options accessible by touching the ">>" icon on the right side of the arming screen. From there you can toggle Entry Delay on or off, silence Exit Sounds, and bypass individual security sensors before arming. These options are available with or without Quick Arm enabled. If any sensors are open when you attempt to arm, the Auto Bypass setting determines whether the panel bypasses them automatically or blocks arming until they are closed or manually bypassed.

The IQ5 Hub is compatible with PowerG sensors for encrypted two-way wireless security coverage. Professional cellular alarm monitoring is available through Alarm Grid. You can also arm and disarm your IQ5 Hub remotely through the Alarm.com app with any active monitoring plan. Visit the Alarm Grid website to learn more.
