What Is the Live View Camera Feature on the IQ5 Hub Panel?

Live View on the IQ5 Hub lets you watch live Alarm.com camera video right on the panel. The page appears once cameras are authorized to stream in Alarm.com Video Settings and supports up to 40 cameras. Select a camera from the list to see a thumbnail, then tap play to go full screen.

What Is Live View?

The IQ5 Hub (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) includes a Live View page that pulls live video from any Alarm.com-connected cameras on your account directly to the 7-inch panel screen. This gives you a central video monitoring point in your home without needing to log into the Alarm.com app. Live View is part of the IQ5 Hub's home automation and video features, supports up to 40 cameras simultaneously, and appears automatically in the panel's page rotation once cameras are authorized. No panel-side configuration is needed beyond the Alarm.com account authorization.

Live View only works with Alarm.com-connected cameras, including indoor, outdoor, and doorbell models associated with your account. Cameras must be authorized to stream to the panel through the Alarm.com customer website under Video Settings and the panel and cameras must be connected to the same WIFI network. Once enabled, the IQ5 Hub automatically loads the camera list and begins displaying feeds. Deauthorizing a camera on Alarm.com removes it from the Live View page instantly.

How to Use Live View

Swipe left or right from the IQ5 Hub home screen to navigate to the Live View page. The left side of the screen displays a list of all authorized cameras. Selecting a camera name shows a thumbnail of the live feed in the main view area. Tap the play button on the thumbnail to expand the feed to full screen. Tap the red X icon to return to the thumbnail view.

Camera authorization is required before Live View becomes active. A system administrator must log in to the Alarm.com customer website, go to Video Settings, and enable the option to authorize cameras to stream to the panel. This step is separate from simply adding cameras to the Alarm.com account. Once authorized, the IQ5 Hub Live View page activates automatically.



Two-Way Audio in Live View

If your Alarm.com camera supports two-way audio, Talk and End buttons appear directly on the IQ5 Hub Live View feed. Press and hold Talk to speak through the camera's speaker. Release the Talk button to hear audio from the camera's microphone. This turns the IQ5 Hub into an intercom station for any compatible camera in your home, letting you communicate through the panel without opening a separate app.

Live Answer for Doorbell Cameras

The IQ5 Hub supports Live Answer for Alarm.com doorbell cameras. When someone presses your doorbell, the IQ5 Hub displays an on-screen notification with the camera feed and Answer or Ignore options. Answering opens the full live view with Talk, Speaker, End Call, and Snapshot buttons, letting you see and speak with the visitor from the panel. This makes the IQ5 Hub function as a smart video intercom for your front door.

Monitoring Plans and Camera Requirements

Live View requires an active Alarm.com monitoring plan that includes video. For Alarm Grid customers that's the Platinum Plan (Self or Full) or a Video Monitoring Plan. Cameras connect to your network via WIFI or Ethernet. For Live View to work, the panel must be connected to the same network as the camera.
