How Do I Add a 2GIG Water Leak Detector to the IQ5 NS System?

To add a 2GIG water leak detector to the IQ5 NS, install the IQ QC0005-840 345 MHz daughter card first. Then open the IQ Installer app and connect to the panel. Navigate to Installation, Devices, Security Sensors, select Auto Learn Sensor, and trigger the FTD100-345 to send a signal.

Before You Begin

The IQ5 NS (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) is a screenless security system panel compatible with the 2GIG-FTD100-345 Water Leak Detector. The panel requires the IQ QC0005-840 345 MHz daughter card to be installed inside the panel before enrollment. If not yet installed, power down the panel, seat the card in the expansion slot, and reboot before starting. All enrollment on the IQ5 NS is done through the IQ Installer app.

Once enrolled, the sensor is always active — monitoring for water 24 hours a day regardless of arming state. Use Group 38 (Water Sensor) to report detections to your monitoring station, or Group 25 (Water Non-Reporting) for local alerts only.

Steps to Add the Water Leak Detector

1. Open the IQ Installer app and connect to the IQ5 NS panel. The Configuration menu opens in the app.

2. Navigate to Installation, then Devices, then Security Sensors. The Security Sensors menu opens.

3. Select Auto Learn Sensor and touch Start Autolearn. The panel enters listening mode for a 345 MHz signal.

4. Trigger the FTD100-345 to send a signal. Press the test/tamper button or briefly short the two metal sensor probes together. The app displays the sensor DL ID with a confirmation prompt.

5. Touch OK and configure the sensor fields. Set the Sensor Type to Water, then select Other Flood for the Sensor Sub-Type. Choose a Sensor Group — Group 38 to report to the central station, or Group 25 for local chime only. Enter a Sensor Name such as Laundry Room or Under Sink and touch Save.

After Adding the Sensor

Place the FTD100-345 flat on the floor with the metal detection probes facing down at the target location. Test the sensor by briefly shorting the probes to confirm the panel responds. The sensor is supervised and the IQ5 NS monitors its connection continuously. Add a monitoring plan so water alerts reach the central station when you are away. Protect multiple areas by enrolling additional FTD100-345 sensors for each location vulnerable to water damage.
