How Do I Add or Change User Codes on a 2GIG GC3e?

You can add or change user codes on a 2GIG GC3e by accessing the Users Menu for the system. You will need to provide the system's Master Code (default 1111, but usually changed) or Installer Code (default 1561, not typically changed) to access this menu. Up to 100 codes can be added.

Please note that the Master Code cannot be deleted from the system. It can only be changed. It is recommended that you change it from its default of 1111 to prevent others from accessing the system. The Users Menu is also where you can set up a duress code for the system. If you would like to learn more about duress codes, please see this helpful FAQ.

Also note that the Installer Code is not changed from within the Users Menu. Rather, that code is changed in Question 1 (Q1) of Panel Programming. The Installer Code is used for entering programming, and it should not be used for arming the system. We do not recommend changing it from its default of 1561.

Complete the following steps to add or change user codes on a 2GIG GC3e:

1. Access Users Menu. Start from the main screen of the 2GIG GC3e. Choose System Settings in the bottom-right corner. Enter the Master Code (default 1111) or the Installer Code (default 1561). Then choose Users. You will enter the Users Menu.

2. Add a user code. If you want to add a new user, click on the "Add User +" button in the upper-right. You will need to enter a name for the user. Click Next in the bottom-right once you have entered the name. Then you must enter a code for the user. By default, the GC3e uses 4-digit codes, but you can change a setting in programming to allow for 6-digit codes. Click Next once you have entered the desired code. Then confirm by entering that same code again, and click Next. The new user will be added.

Note: After creating a code, you must edit the code to choose which partitions can be controlled. By default, all partitions are left blank. You must select at least one if you want the code to have any functionality. If you are not using multiple partitions on your system, you must check the box for "System" so that you can arm and disarm the system. Make sure to go back and adjust this setting after creating the code. You can see this in the picture below.

3. Change a user code. If you want to change a user code, click on the pencil icon next to the user code you want to change. Locate the option for Code, and click the pencil icon next to it. Then enter the new code, and choose Next. Then confirm the new code by entering it again, and press Next. This will adjust the code.

You can also press the pencil icon next to a user code to adjust the settings for that user. This includes toggling the code as Active/Inactive, changing the name for the user, choosing which Smart Area Partitions the user can control, and setting a schedule for the code so that it can only be used on certain dates and/or at certain times of the day. You can click the return arrow on the left side of the screen once you have finished adjusting the code.

4. Deleting a user code. If you want to delete a code, click the trash can icon next to the code. The GC3e will ask you to confirm. Choose Delete. The code will be deleted. Remember, the Master Code cannot be deleted, only edited.

5. Return home. Once you have finished, repeatedly press the return arrow on the left side of the screen until you are taken back to the main screen. Any changes you made will be automatically saved.
