How Do I Clear Messages From the IQ5 NS Message Center?

The IQ5 NS does not have a built-in Message Center because it does not have a touchscreen display. To view and manage system alerts on the IQ5 NS, use the Alarm.com mobile app or connect an IQ Remote PG wireless keypad, which provides full touchscreen access to panel alerts and messages.

Before You Begin

The IQ5 NS (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE versions) has no touchscreen and therefore no built-in Message Center. The IQ5 NS communicates system status through two LED indicators on the front of the panel and through the Alarm.com app. If you have not yet connected the IQ Installer app to your panel, see our guide on setting up the IQ5 NS with the IQ Installer app before proceeding.

The default Master Code is 1234 and the default Installer Code is 1111, but both should be changed during initial setup. The IQ5 NS works with PowerG sensors, Z-Wave devices, and Bluetooth accessories as part of a complete security system platform. Alert management is handled through the Alarm.com app rather than an on-panel Message Center.

Viewing Alerts Through the Alarm.com App

The Alarm.com app is the primary way to view and manage system alerts on the IQ5 NS. Log into your Alarm.com account associated with your IQ5 NS system, then follow these steps.

  1. Open the Alarm.com app on your smartphone or tablet. Log into your account associated with your IQ5 NS system.
  2. Navigate to the Activity section to view recent system events including alarms, alerts, and sensor activity.
  3. Review any notifications or alerts that require your attention. The app displays low battery warnings, sensor troubles, and alarm events.
  4. Clear notifications by acknowledging them within the app. Most alerts clear automatically once the underlying issue is resolved.

Using an IQ Remote for Message Access

If you have an IQ Remote PG wireless keypad connected to your IQ5 NS, you can access a Message Center through the keypad's touchscreen interface. The IQ Remote PG connects wirelessly using PowerG technology and provides the same touchscreen experience as the IQ Panel 5 or IQ5 Hub. From the IQ Remote, touch the message icon in the upper right corner to view alerts and messages, then select the message and touch OK or use Acknowledge All to clear them.

Understanding IQ5 NS LED Indicators

The IQ5 NS uses two LED indicators to communicate basic system status without a screen. The Power LED shows whether the panel has AC power — solid green when powered normally, flashing green when running on battery backup. The Status LED indicates the arming state: solid green when disarmed, solid red when armed, and flashing red when an alarm has occurred.

If the Status LED is showing a solid orange or unusual pattern, this indicates a trouble condition that requires attention. Check the Alarm.com app for specific details about any trouble conditions affecting your home automation devices or security system. Adding a monitoring plan ensures trained operators are notified when alarms occur even if you miss an app alert.

While the IQ5 NS does not have a built-in Message Center, you can effectively manage alerts through the Alarm.com app or an IQ Remote PG keypad.
