How Do I Enable Commercial Device Names on My IQ5 NS System?
To enable Commercial Sensor and Device Names on the IQ5 NS, open the IQ Installer app and navigate to the Installer Settings, then enable Commercial Sensor and Device Names to switch the sensor naming vocabulary over. Because the panel has no screen of its own, this is all done in the app.
About Commercial Sensor and Device Names
When you name a sensor on the IQ5 NS (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE), the panel offers a built-in list of name options to pick from. By default that list uses residential naming, with words like Front Door, Bedroom, and Kitchen. Enabling Commercial Sensor and Device Names swaps that vocabulary for commercial terms that better fit a business, so your security system labels match an office, store, or warehouse rather than a home.
The setting is disabled by default, and turning it on changes only the word choices available when naming devices, not how any sensor behaves. It is a convenience for commercial installs, so the zone names on the panel and in reports read naturally for that setting. You can switch it back to residential naming at any time.
Before You Begin
Because the IQ5 NS has no screen, its Installer Settings are reached through the IQ Installer app. If you have not yet connected the IQ Installer app to your panel, see our guide on setting up the IQ5 NS with the IQ Installer app before proceeding. It is easiest to set this before you start naming sensors, since it determines which name list you see while adding and editing devices.

Tips
Switching this setting does not rename sensors you have already added; it only changes the vocabulary offered for new names and when you edit a sensor, so you may want to revisit existing zones to update them to commercial terms. You can also type a fully custom name for any sensor regardless of this setting, which is handy when neither the residential nor commercial list has the exact label you want. For most homes, leaving this off and using the default residential names is the right choice.
Enabling Commercial Sensor and Device Names on the IQ5 NS makes the panel's naming fit a business setting.
