How Do I Enable Partitions on the IQ5 NS Security System?

To enable Partitions on the IQ5 NS, open the IQ Installer app and navigate to the Installer Settings, then enable the Partitions feature to create up to four separate areas that you can each arm and disarm on their own. Because the panel has no screen of its own, this is done in the app.

About Enabling Partitions

Partitions let you split the IQ5 NS (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) into up to four separate areas that each arm and disarm independently, which is useful for a home with a guest suite, a business with separate departments, or any space you want to secure in sections. Enabling the feature is just the first step: it is a single toggle in the Installer Settings that turns the capability on for your security system. Once it is on, you assign sensors and user codes to specific partitions.

Partitions is disabled by default. Turning it on changes how codes work, since the user code entered determines which partition is being accessed, so plan your user codes with partitions in mind. Enable Partitions only if you are sure you want to divide the system into separate areas, since it affects how the whole panel is organized.

Before You Begin

Enable Partitions

1. Open the IQ Installer app. Open the IQ Installer app on your mobile device and make sure it is connected to your IQ5 NS.

Tips

Enabling Partitions only turns the capability on; your sensors all stay in the default partition until you assign them, so plan to edit each sensor to place it in the right area afterward. Partitions suit a space you want to secure in sections, such as a guest area or a multi-tenant setup, but for a single household that arms and disarms as one, leaving this off keeps things simplest. Once it is enabled, you can create and name each partition and assign your sensors and user codes to them.
