How Do I Get My ADC-VDB770 Added to an Alarm.com Account Via the Website?

You can get your ADC-VDB770 added to an Alarm.com account via the website by first installing the ADC-VDB770 and connecting it to a WIFI network, and then accessing your Alarm.com account through the website so that you can provide the unique 12-character MAC Address for the device.

This FAQ assumes that you already have an Alarm.com account with the video doorbell feature and/or full video surveillance services enabled. Unlike a regular Alarm.com Security Camera that requires a full video plan, you can actually add one (1) single compatible doorbell camera to your Alarm.com account, even if you don't have a true video monitoring plan. The ADC-VDB770 represents one of these compatible doorbell camera options. The only requirement is that you instead have the video doorbell feature applied to your account by your monitoring provider. Other than that, the ADC-VDB770 can pretty much be treated just like any other Alarm.com Camera.

Once you have the proper service options applied to your Alarm.com account, complete the following steps to pair your ADC-VDB770 with your Alarm.com account via the website:

1. Install the doorbell camera. Start by installing the ADC-VDB770. This will provide power to the device so that you can successfully connect it to a local WIFI network. To learn how to install the ADC-VDB770 Doorbell Camera, please refer to this helpful FAQ.

2. Get the camera online. There are two (2) ways to get the ADC-VDB770 connected to a local WIFI network for internet service. These ways are AP Mode Pairing and WPS Pairing. Of these two methods, AP Mode Pairing is safer and more secure, but some users find that WPS Pairing is easier. Alarm Grid recommends using AP Mode Pairing if possible, due to the network vulnerabilities associated with WPS Pairing. However, both methods accomplish the same task of getting the ADC-VDB770 connected to WIFI. Regardless of which method you use, continue to the next step once the ADC-VDB770 is online with a solid green LED.

3. Access your ADC account. Using a compatible web browser, visit the Alarm.com website, and log in to your account. You will need to provide your username and password. You must also complete two-factor authentication (2FA) if that feature is enabled for your account. In the event that you are having trouble logging in, contact your monitoring provider for further assistance.

4. Access Add Video device. Once you have logged into your Alarm.com account through the website, select Video on the left-hand side of the screen. From there, click on Settings on the top bar. Then choose Add Video Device. This will take you to a menu where you can complete the enrollment process for the device.

5. Pair the doorbell camera. In most cases, you should see the device show up on the screen with its 12-character MAC Address and a local IP address. Start by giving the camera a name in the corresponding field on the left-hand side. You may notice that your camera has a status of "Needs Upgrade". In that case, you can click the blue "Upgrade & Install" button. The upgrade process may take upwards of thirty (30) minutes to complete. If your camera does not require an upgrade, then you can just click the blue "Install" button instead.

If you are having trouble getting the ADC-VDB770 to show up automatically, then you should try pressing the grey "Refresh Devices" button at the top. You may also try manually entering the 12-character MAC Address for the camera into the corresponding field and pressing the "Find" button. The camera's 12-character MAC Address can be found on a reference card that comes included with the device. You should keep this reference card somewhere safe for easy access later on. After the camera has been enrolled, you can press the "Live View" button to view its feed. You may also be asked to "Configure" some basic settings for the camera before getting started. In that case, just follow the on-screen prompts to complete the enrollment process.
