How Do I Register the Honeywell 3GL?
You can register the Honeywell 3GL communicator by contacting your alarm monitoring company, providing them with the MAC and CRC, and allowing them to remotely activate the device. You also have the option of registering directly from the security panel's touchscreen programming interface.
Before the communicator can be activated, it will need to be installed into the panel. The 3GL is compatible with Honeywell L5200, L5210 and L7000 alarm systems. It will connect with the main board of the system in a designated area. Once the 3GL has been registered, the panel will be able to send signals via cellular communication. This type of communication is an excellent backup option when WIFI is used as the primary communication path for the panel.
Complete the following steps to register the Honeywell 3GL:
1. Install the device. Unplug the main power supply for the panel. Next, open the panel by pressing the taps on the top of its housing while pulling apart the system. Unplug the backup battery plug from the system to completely power it down. The 3GL installs on the left side of the board in the designated mounting area. Screw the communicator in place, re-attach the battery and close the system. Finally, plug in the system's transformer.
2. Enable the communication path. After the system boots up, from the home screen, go to Security > More > Tools > enter the installer code (the default code is 4112) > Program > Communicator. The top-left field designates the communication path for the system. Select “GSM or Cellular” for cellular only communication or “GSM or Cellular / WIFI” for WIFI and cellular communication in a dual path setup. A dual path communication setup will have the system automatically switch to cellular communication if the WIFI communication path fails.
3. Register the 3GL. The 3GL has two different ways of being registered:
