How Do I Run an AC Status Test on the IQ5 NS Home System?
To run an AC status test on the IQ5 NS, open the IQ Installer app and navigate to System Tests, then Panel Test, and select Run right next to the AC Status test to check that the panel's AC power status is reading correctly on its own. Because the panel has no screen, this is done in the app.
About the AC Status Test
The IQ5 NS (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) does not have a standalone AC test. The check is an item called AC Status inside the Panel Test, and it confirms the panel is receiving power from its plug-in transformer. This is the first thing to check when your security system reports an AC power trouble that will not clear, since a pass tells you the wall power is reaching the panel and a fail points to a wiring or transformer problem.
The Panel Test runs the panel's built-in checks either one at a time or all at once. Select Run beside the single AC Status item to test just AC power, which is the quickest option here. Running every test with Run All is more thorough but will sound the siren, so for an AC-only check, use the individual Run.
Before You Begin
Because the IQ5 NS has no screen, its System Tests are reached through the IQ Installer app. If you have not yet connected the IQ Installer app to your panel, see our guide on setting up the IQ5 NS with the IQ Installer app before proceeding. Choosing Run All rather than the individual AC Status test will sound the siren as part of the full test, so stick to the single AC Status test if you only want to check AC power.
Run the AC Status Test

Open the IQ Installer app. Open the IQ Installer app on your mobile device and make sure it is connected to your IQ5 NS.
Open the IQ Installer app connected to your IQ5 NS. -
Navigate to System Tests, then Panel Test. In the app, go to System Tests, then open Panel Test to see the list of individual panel checks.
Navigate to System Tests, then open Panel Test. -
Run the AC Status test. Find the AC Status item in the Panel Test list and select Run next to it. Choosing this single item tests only AC power, without sounding the siren.
Select Run next to the AC Status test. -
Read the result. Wait for the test to finish and check the pass or fail result in the app. A pass means the panel is receiving AC power; a fail points to a power connection issue to troubleshoot.
Read the pass or fail result for the AC Status test.
Tips
If the AC Status test fails, inspect that the power wire leads are secure and properly connected at both the terminal block and the power adapter, then repeat the test. Also confirm the transformer is plugged into a working, non-switched outlet. For an actual voltage reading rather than a simple pass or fail, run the Input Voltage Test on the IQ5 NS, which shows the real-time DC voltage the panel is receiving.
Running an AC status test on the IQ5 NS confirms your panel is getting steady wall power.
