How Do I Stream Live Video to the IQ Remote on the IQ5 NS?

To stream live video to the IQ Remote on the IQ5 NS, open the IQ Installer app and navigate to Installer Settings, then enable the Stream Live Video Cameras to IQ Remote setting so your camera feeds appear on the IQ Remote. Because the panel has no screen of its own, this is done in the app.

About Streaming Video to the IQ Remote

The IQ5 NS (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) has no screen of its own, so a paired IQ Remote, a secondary touchscreen keypad that connects over your WIFI network, is where you interact with the system in a room. Enabling Stream Live Video Cameras to IQ Remote lets live camera video stream to those IQ Remote touchscreens, giving your otherwise screen-free security system a place to view cameras right at the keypad.

This is useful because without an IQ Remote, the IQ5 NS has no on-panel display to show a camera feed at all. Adding one or more IQ Remotes and turning on this setting means you can glance at the nearest keypad to see who is at the door or check a camera, rather than pulling out your phone every time. The setting is disabled by default, so you turn it on once your IQ Remotes and cameras are in place.

Before You Begin

Because the IQ5 NS has no screen, its Installer Settings are reached through the IQ Installer app. If you have not yet connected the IQ Installer app to your panel, see our guide on setting up the IQ5 NS with the IQ Installer app before proceeding. You also need at least one IQ Remote paired over WIFI and cameras already set up on the system, since this setting routes an existing feed to the remote rather than adding cameras.

Stream Live Video to the IQ Remote

1. Open the IQ Installer app. Open the IQ Installer app on your mobile device and make sure it is connected to your IQ5 NS.

2. Navigate to Installer Settings. In the app, go to the Installer Settings and find the Stream Live Video Cameras to IQ Remote setting.

3. Enable the setting. Toggle Stream Live Video Cameras to IQ Remote on. Your camera feeds will now stream to the paired IQ Remote keypads. Toggle it off here any time to stop streaming video to the remotes.

Tips

Because the video streams over your WIFI network, a strong, stable connection to each IQ Remote gives the smoothest playback, so keep that in mind if a remote is far from the router. This setting applies to all paired IQ Remotes at once rather than one at a time. On the IQ5 NS, the IQ Remote is your main on-site display, so this setting is the way to bring camera viewing into the home rather than relying only on the mobile app.
