Which Battery Packs are Compatible with the 2GIG GC2?
The battery packs that are compatible with the 2GIG GC2 are the 2GIG BATT1X and the 2GIG BATT2X. Both battery packs will keep the 2GIG Go!Control Panel operational if the electricity goes out or the transformer becomes unplugged. Only one battery pack can be used with the system at a time.
The 2GIG GC2 uses a 2GIG AC1 Plug-In AC Transformer as its primary source of power. It uses a backup battery to stay powered on if the electricity goes out or the transformer becomes unplugged. The battery will be continuously storing a charge while the system is running on AC power. This way, it will be ready to power the system as soon as AC power is lost.
After about three to five years, the battery will lose its ability to store a charge, and it will need to be replaced. A user will know that this is the case because there will be a low-battery warning that won't clear. The user should give the system 24 hours of running on continuous AC power to see if the battery restores its charge. If it doesn't, then it is probably in need of replacing.
If a user is in the market for a new GC2 battery, then they have two options available. The standard option is the 2GIG BATT1X, which comes included with the panel. This battery pack will only keep the system running for about four to six hours. Please note that this battery does not meet the requirements of UL985 installations.
If a user wants a longer-lasting battery, they should look into the 2GIG BATT2X instead. This is an upgraded version of the 2GIG BATT1X, and it can keep the system running for up to 24 hours at maximum charge. The BATT2X uses the same connector port as the BATT1X. The BATT2X is rated at 7.2V 2600mAh.
