Who can monitor an LTEXA-ADT?

Only ADT can monitor an LTEXA-ADT. The LTEXA-ADT is a proprietary cellular communicator that only works with ADT monitoring services. It connects with the AT&T LTE Network. You must swap out the communicator with a new one if you want to bring the system to a different monitoring company.

The LTEXA-ADT is the ADT proprietary version of the Honeywell LTE-XA Cellular Communicator. The LTEXA-ADT and the LTE-XA are exactly the same, except that the LTEXA-ADT will only work with ADT, while the LTE-XA will work with any alarm monitoring company that is registered with AlarmNet. The LTEXV-ADT and the LTE-XA can both be used with the same Honeywell VISTA Alarm Panels.

An LTEXA-ADT cannot be brought to an alarm monitoring company other than ADT. But fortunately, you can still use the existing VISTA Alarm System with a new monitoring company. To do this, you will need to swap out the existing communicator for one that can be monitored by someone else. The Honeywell LTE-XA is the most obvious choice for this job. Another option is the Honeywell LTE-IA, which will provide both IP connectivity and service from the AT&T LTE Network.

Replacing an existing LTEXA-ADT is very easy. You will start by powering down the VISTA Panel. This is done by disconnecting the backup battery and unplugging the transformer. From there, you will want to disconnect the LTEXA-ADT from the panel. You should keep the wires connected at the panel, as you can use them with the new communicator. Instead, just disconnect the wires at the LTEXA-ADT module. You will also need to physically remove the LTEXA-ADT from the panel. The replacement communicator can use the same wires and mount to the system in the same location. The VISTA System can then be activated for monitoring service.

It may also be a good idea to replace the PROM Chip for the system. By doing this, it will be easier for your new monitoring company to program your system. Keep in mind that this is usually optional, and the system should still work if you keep the old PROM Chip. You can use Total Connect 2.0 with any ADT Safewatch PRO 3000 System that has a PROM Chip Version 9.12 or higher. Alarm Grid sells VISTA 20P replacement PROM Chips on its website, and you can use them with an ADT Safewatch PRO 3000 System. Another option is to get a Honeywell LTEXA-TC2, which includes the LTE-XA and replacement PROM Chips. There is also the the Honeywell LTEIA-TC2, which includes a dual-path communicator and new PROM Chips. If Verizon service works okay in your area, you can get the LTEIV-TC2, which includes a dual-path communicator and replacement PROM Chips.

There are sometimes complications that arise when replacing a PROM Chip in an ADT system. There are many things that should be considered before you go and replace a PROM Chip. We recommend that you contact Alarm Grid directly if you are thinking about upgrading your system. You will need to provide us with the specifics of your ADT System for us to make the best recommendation for your needs. Make sure to do this before trying to replace the PROM Chip on your own. The best way to reach us is to call (888) 818-7728 or email support@alarmgrid.com. Remember that our support hours run from 9am to 8pm ET M-F.
