Getting a trustworthy and reliable communicator for a Honeywell VISTA Panel is extremely important. With the ADC-SEM210-VT-VZ you can get your VISTA System connected with the Alarm.com interactive monitoring platform. This module provides dual-path connectivity for enhanced reliability.
Traditionally, an alarm system from Honeywell or Resideo will use the Total Connect 2.0 platform for interactive alarm monitoring. But the Alarm.com System Enhancement Modules (SEMs) are an exception to this rule. These communicators allow security panels to connect with the Alarm.com platform instead. Although TC2 and ADC are very similar, there may be some users who prefer to use Alarm.com. This could be because they already have Alarm.com Security Cameras, or maybe they want to take advantage of the Video Analytics capabilities of Alarm.com. Regardless, if you have a VISTA Panel and you want to use it with Alarm.com, the ADC-SEM210-VT-VZ is an option for you.
Dual-path connectivity is one of the biggest features of the ADC-SEM210-VT-VZ. A communicator is said to be "dual-path" when it uses both cellular communication and internet connectivity. The idea is that the two communication paths will be there to back each other up. Signals will be sent out across both paths, and whichever one reaches the destination first will go through. If one path is down, it will be okay, as you will still have the other path. This is extremely important for ensuring that your panel stays monitored at all times. In the case of the ADC-SEM210-VT-VZ, the panel will connect across the Verizon LTE Network and an IP network using a hardwired ethernet connection. AT&T LTE versions and Telus LTE versions (Canada only) are also available. Please note that a Gold Plan or higher from Alarm Grid is needed to unlock all of the great features of an SEM device.
Smart home automation capabilities are also built right into the ADC-SEM210-VT-VZ. This module doubles as an effective Z-Wave Plus controller for integrating your smart devices into your Alarm.com Security System. This includes all lights, locks and thermostats that use Z-Wave technology. For best results, you should make sure to use Z-Wave Plus devices. While classic Z-Wave devices will work just fine with the module, you will only get the maximum range and battery life with enhanced Z-Wave Plus devices. All Z-Wave operation and control will need to take place through the Alarm.com Platform, as a VISTA Panel will not support on-site Z-Wave control when used with an Alarm.com SEM device.
The ADC-SEM210-VT-VZ is only compatible with VISTA P-Series Alarm Panels. It can be used with a VISTA 10P, 15P, 20P or 21iP System. But there are some other requirements that must also be considered. The panel must be from 2005 or newer, and it has to be running firmware version 3.1 or higher. This information can be determined by checking the panel's PROM Chip. This is a small black chip on the circuit board. It will have a white sticker with a code that starts with "WA". The code will tell you if the system can support an SEM device. Remember, certain branded equivalents like the First Alert FA16CPS can also be used with an SEM device.
