Can I Use a Honeywell 5828 With a 2GIG GC2e?
No, you cannot use a Honeywell 5828 with a 2GIG GC2e. The Honeywell 5828 is a wireless alarm keypad that enrolls with certain Honeywell Panels using a programmed House ID. The 2GIG GC2e does not support this House ID function, and therefore it cannot support the Honeywell 5828 Keypad.
The Honeywell 5828 is technically part of the Honeywell 5800 Series lineup. However, it is one of the few Honeywell 5800 Series devices that uses a set House ID for programming. This is what allows for bi-directional (two-way) connectivity. The panel and the keypad will have a matching House ID, which tells the two devices to communicate with each other.
But the 2GIG GC2e does not have this House ID setting. As a result, it is unable to interface with a Honeywell 5828 Keypad. In fact, you will only find this House ID setting on Honeywell LYNX Touch Systems and Honeywell VISTA Systems that have an added wireless transceiver. This makes these systems the only ones that will work with the Honeywell 5828 Keypad.
As for the 2GIG GC2e, there are other keypad options available. The most similar to that of the Honeywell 5828 is the 2GIG PAD1-345. Just like the Honeywell 5828, the 2GIG PAD1-345 is a relatively simple touchpad keypad with a numeric keypad. It is very basic, but it can be useful for arming and disarming the system from a second location, such as a back door.
If you want a "fancier" touchscreen keypad for your 2GIG GC2e, then the 2GIG TS1 Keypad is an option. This keypad requires that a 2GIG XCVR2-345 Transceiver Module be installed inside the 2GIG GC2e System. It is important to note that adding this module will make the 2GIG GC2e incompatible with 2GIG eSeries Encrypted Sensors. 2GIG has promised to release a patch update to make the GC2e remain compatible with these sensors when the 2GIG XCVR2-345 is added. But as of early July 2020, this update has not yet been released.
