Can I Use the Resideo PROA7C With Alarm.com?

No, you cannot use the Resideo PROA7C with Alarm.com. This system does not have an Alarm.com Communicator available, thereby making it incompatible with the Alarm.com service. But if you add an AlarmNet Communicator to the PROA7C, then it can be used with Total Connect 2.0 instead.

For reference, the ProSeries Alarm Panels include the Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS, the Honeywell Home PROA7, the Resideo PROA7PLUSC, and the Resideo PROA7C. None of these systems will work with Alarm.com because there is no Alarm.com Communicator that will work with these control panels. The only systems from Honeywell or Resideo that can be made to work with Alarm.com are the Honeywell VISTA P-Series Alarm Systems, such as the VISTA-10P, VISTA-15P, VISTA-20P, and VISTA-21iP. Alarm.com reverse engineered the VISTA P-Series Panels and created special System Enhancement Modules (SEMs) for them like the ADC-SEM300-VT-AT and the ADC-SEM300-VT-VZ that allow these systems to work with Alarm.com. But other than that, no Honeywell or Resideo System can be made to communicate with the Alarm.com servers.

Being able to work with Alarm.com offers a user some distinct advantages. Namely, you can connect with Alarm.com through a compatible web browser or a mobile app on your phone to control your system remotely. Alarm.com will let you arm and disarm, check current system status, control paired Z-Wave devices, and view Alarm.com Cameras, if the plan supports it, from pretty much anywhere in the world. Another benefit of Alarm.com is that you can receive text and/or email alerts regarding activity on your security system.

Fortunately, Honeywell and Resideo Security Systems, including the ProSeries Panels, have their own interactive service that they can use. This service is called Total Connect 2.0, and it is very similar to Alarm.com. The features and capabilities of Total Connect 2.0 are largely the same as Alarm.com, though Total Connect 2.0 has its own lineup of Total Connect 2.0 Cameras that are used instead of Alarm.com Cameras.

In order to work with Total Connect 2.0, a system must have an AlarmNet Communicator and be set up with a monitoring plan that includes access to the TC2 service. The PROA7PLUS and PROA7PLUSC Panels come with an AlarmNet Communicator pre-installed, in the form of the Honeywell Home PROWIFIZW. This is an IP communicator that doubles as a Z-Wave Plus Automation Controller. But the Honeywell Home PROA7 and Resideo PROA7C do not have an AlarmNet Communicator pre-installed. You must add one and activate it for monitoring service in order for the system to be used with Total Connect 2.0.

The available AlarmNet Communicators include the aforementioned PROWIFIZW, the Honeywell Home PROWIFI, which is the same module, just without Z-Wave functionality, or one of the ProSeries Cellular Communicators, which are the Honeywell Home PROLTE-A AT&T LTE Communicator and the Honeywell Home PROLTE-V Verizon LTE Communicator. Please note that it is possible to add both an IP communicator (PROWIFI or PROWIFIZW) and a cellular communicator (PROLTE-A or PROLTE-V) for dual-path connectivity with both internet and cellular coverage.
