How Do I Set the Bluetooth Disarm Timeout on the IQ5 NS?

To set the Bluetooth disarm timeout on the IQ5 NS, open the IQ Installer app and navigate to Devices, then Bluetooth Devices, then Settings, and then set the Bluetooth Disarm Timeout at the bottom to 1, 5, 10, 20, or 30 minutes. Because the panel has no screen, this is all done in the app.

About the Bluetooth Disarm Timeout

The IQ5 NS (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) can disarm automatically when a paired phone comes within range, and the Bluetooth Disarm Timeout controls how long the panel waits after being armed to Away before it will allow that touchless disarm. This built-in delay keeps the system from disarming the instant you arm it while your phone is still nearby, which is useful on your security system when you arm and then linger before actually leaving.

The timeout can be set to 1, 5, 10, 20, or 30 minutes, and it is 10 minutes by default. Once the timeout passes and you return in range with a paired phone, the panel disarms on its own. It sits at the bottom of the Bluetooth Settings screen, the same place you enable the Bluetooth radio and turn Bluetooth disarming on or off for the panel.

Before You Begin

Because the IQ5 NS has no screen, its Bluetooth settings are reached through the IQ Installer app. If you have not yet connected the IQ Installer app to your panel, see our guide on setting up the IQ5 NS with the IQ Installer app before proceeding. You also need at least one phone paired for Bluetooth disarming for this setting to matter, and Bluetooth disarming must be enabled on the panel.

Set the Bluetooth Disarm Timeout

  1. Open the IQ Installer app. Open the IQ Installer app on your mobile device and make sure it is connected to your IQ5 NS.

Open the IQ Installer app connected to your IQ5 NS.
  2. Navigate to Devices, then Bluetooth Devices. In the app, go to the Devices menu, then open Bluetooth Devices.

Navigate to Devices, then Bluetooth Devices.
  3. Open Settings. Open the Settings option within Bluetooth Devices to reach the Bluetooth Settings screen.

    Open Settings within Bluetooth Devices.
  4. Set the Bluetooth Disarm Timeout. Scroll to the bottom of the Settings screen and set the Bluetooth Disarm Timeout to 1, 5, 10, 20, or 30 minutes. The panel will now wait that long after arming to Away before allowing a paired phone to disarm it.

Scroll to the bottom and choose 1, 5, 10, 20, or 30 minutes.

Tips

A longer timeout means the panel waits more before it will touchless-disarm, which helps if you tend to arm to Away and then stay home a while before leaving, so the system does not disarm on you. A shorter timeout lets a returning phone disarm the panel sooner. The same Bluetooth Settings screen is where you turn the Bluetooth radio and Bluetooth disarming on or off. If you have not set up a phone yet, see our guide on how to pair a phone for Bluetooth disarming.

Setting the Bluetooth disarm timeout on the IQ5 NS tunes how touchless disarming behaves after you arm.
