How Do I Pair a Phone for Bluetooth Disarming on IQ5 NS?
The Qolsys IQ5 NS supports Bluetooth touchless disarming, which automatically disarms your system from Armed Away when your paired smartphone comes within range. You can pair up to five phones for this feature. This guide walks you through the full pairing process via the IQ Installer app.
Before You Begin
Make sure your smartphone has Bluetooth enabled before you start. The IQ5 NS (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE versions) does not have a touchscreen, so all Bluetooth configuration is done through the IQ Installer app on your mobile device. If you have not yet connected the IQ Installer app to your panel, see our guide on setting up the IQ5 NS with the IQ Installer app before proceeding.
Connect your phone to the same WIFI network as the panel, then open the app and connect to your IQ5 NS. You will need your Installer Code (1111 by default) or Master Code (1234 by default) to access the Bluetooth Devices menu. Touchless disarming only works when the panel is in an Armed Away state, and you can pair up to five smartphones for this security system feature.
Pairing Your Phone
- Open the IQ Installer app on your mobile device and connect to the IQ5 NS panel. If this is your first time connecting, scan the QR code on the panel body to pair the app with your panel. The app dashboard appears showing the panel's current status and available configuration options.
- Navigate to Installation > Devices > Bluetooth Devices. The Bluetooth Devices page opens, showing any previously paired devices and options for managing home automation Bluetooth connections.
- Select Add Phone. The panel begins searching for available Bluetooth devices in range. Make sure the phone you want to pair has Bluetooth enabled and is set to discoverable mode. The search can take up to 60 seconds.
- Select the correct device from the list of discovered Bluetooth devices in the IQ Installer app. Make sure the pairing code displayed on the panel matches the code shown on your phone.
- Confirm the pairing by selecting Pair on the panel first, then on your mobile device. After pairing completes, choose whether to allow this phone to disarm the system and select the partition to be disarmed if partitions are enabled. Your phone now appears in the Paired Devices list. It is normal for your phone to show the IQ Panel as "Not Connected" in your phone's Bluetooth settings.
Tips
The Bluetooth Disarm Timeout setting controls how long the panel waits after being armed to Armed Away before it allows a Bluetooth device to disarm it. The default is 10 minutes, and you can choose 1, 5, 10, 20, or 30 minutes. To adjust this, navigate to Bluetooth Devices and select the Settings option within the IQ Installer app. This prevents the panel from immediately disarming after you arm it and leave while still within Bluetooth range. If you use monitoring services, Bluetooth touchless disarming works alongside your Alarm.com app for convenient remote access and control.
To manage paired devices later, return to Bluetooth Devices from the Installation > Devices menu in the IQ Installer app. You can edit device permissions, change partition assignments, delete individual devices, or remove all paired devices. Each paired device can only be assigned to one partition at a time. The IQ5 NS supports PowerG sensors and Z-Wave devices, so touchless disarming adds a seamless hands-free layer to your existing smart home configuration.
Pairing a phone for touchless disarming on the Qolsys IQ5 NS provides a convenient hands-free way to disarm your system when you arrive home.
