Is the Honeywell 5818MNL compatible with an L5100?

The Honeywell 5818MNL wireless recessed door and window contact is compatible with Honeywell Lynx Touch 5100 as well as any Honeywell wireless receiver that is used with any Honeywell Vista Series panel. Please note - the Honeywell Vista-10P, Vista-15P, Vista-20P and Vista-21iP can handle only one wireless receiver per system.

The Honeywell 5818MNL is a perfect solution for protecting any door or window without compromising your home decor. Since they are recessed in the jam of your window or door, be prepared to drill out a 3/4 inch diameter hole into the frame at least 3 inch deep. The magnet requires a 3/8" diameter hole in the edge of the door or window 1/2 inch deep. Similar to most door and window contacts there must be no more than 1/2 inch gap between the sensor and magnet. The 5818MNL is powered by an included AAA lithium battery which should last up to 10 years. If you are looking for other wireless recessed door or window options - please check out the Honeywell 5800RPS or the Honeywell 5800MICRA. Just like the 5818MNL, these two contacts will work any of the Honeywell panels listed above. The 5800RPS is a traditional roller plunger style door sensor that is for both wireless and recessed applications. It requires no magnet. As shown in our product description: To install the 5800RPS recessed door sensor you will need to use a 3/4" drill bit to drill into the door frame on the hinge side to a 1 1/4" depth. Once the first hole is drilled into the door jam, you need to drill a 1/4" hole in the center of that hole to make room for the 5800RPS sensor's antenna. The battery life is 7 years with normal use, according to Honeywell.

Since both the 5818MNL and the 5800RPS are generally used as door contacts, the Honeywell 5800MICRA wireless recessed window sensor is a great, aesthetically pleasing option to secure any window in your home or business. The 5800MICRA has a very slim design that serves for a simple installation in any window without voiding the majority of manufacturer's warranties due to its narrow depth in both the window and window frame. It is only recommended for use in all vinyl windows, wood casement, awning, double-hung and access windows. When installed in vinyl sliding windows, you should install the wireless transmitter 3 inches down from the top corner along the vertical window frame. When installed in hung windows, you should install the 5800Micra recessed sensor into the bottom horizontal window frame 3 inches from either bottom corner. Please follow the installation guidelines that be found in the product description: You will need a 3/4" Forstner drill bit to make the hole in the window frame. The 3/4" hole should be no deeper than 11/32" otherwise you risk puncturing the outer wall of the window frame which could cause the window to leak water. You can use a drill stop to ensure you do not drill deeper than the recommended 11/32" core depth. The battery life is 10 years with normal use, according to Honeywell.

**Please note: the 5818MNL is the only wireless recessed door and window contact that in tandem with a magnet from a wired steel door contact assembly will reliably work with a metal door. There are NO wireless recessed contacts that work well with steel doors. Please see our FAQ for details: "Can Honeywell's wireless sensors be used on metal doors and frames?" In this FAQ, you will also see detailed options for hard wiring recessed door and window contacts to various wireless transmitters.
