What Is the Default Master Code for the IQ5 NS Alarm Panel?

The default Master Code on the IQ5 NS is 1234. The Master Code provides access to User Management, WIFI configuration, and sensor customization through the IQ Installer app on your mobile device. Alarm Grid recommends changing this code immediately after installation to keep your system secure.

Before You Begin

The IQ5 NS (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE versions) has no touchscreen. All user code management is handled through the IQ Installer app on your iOS or Android device. The default Master Code of 1234 is active from the moment the panel is first powered on. If you have not yet connected the IQ Installer app to your panel, see our guide on setting up the IQ5 NS with the IQ Installer app before proceeding.

The default Installer Code is 1111. Both the Master Code and Installer Code should be changed before the installation is considered complete. The IQ5 NS supports up to 242 user codes across all user types.

What the Master Code Does

The Master Code sits at the top of the end-user hierarchy on the IQ5 NS. It provides access to User Management, WIFI settings, sound customization, and full sensor configuration through the IQ Installer app. A Master Code user can create, edit, and delete other user codes on the system. The Master Code cannot be deleted, only changed.

User Code Hierarchy

The IQ5 NS has five user types, each with a different access level. The Dealer Code provides the highest level of access including Master Reset and Dealer Contact customization. The Installer Code (default 1111) provides access to all installer settings. The Master Code (default 1234) gives access to all user-related features and settings. User and Guest codes are limited to arming and disarming only. A Duress Code is also available, which disarms the system but simultaneously sends a silent duress signal to the monitoring station.

6-Digit Code Mode

The IQ5 NS supports both 4-digit and 6-digit user codes. When 6-digit code mode is enabled, the system automatically appends "00" to all existing 4-digit codes. This means the default Master Code of 1234 becomes 123400 in 6-digit mode if it has not been manually updated. If you enable 6-digit codes on the IQ5 NS through the IQ Installer app, make sure all users are notified of their updated code before they need to use it.

Changing the Default Master Code

To change the Master Code on the IQ5 NS, open the IQ Installer app on your mobile device and connect to the panel. Navigate to Configuration > User Management, select the Master user, and edit the code. Choose a code that is not easy to guess and avoid sequences like 1234 or repeated digits. Save the changes in the app to apply the new code to the panel.

The IQ5 NS works with PowerG sensors for encrypted two-way wireless communication and supports professional cellular alarm monitoring through Alarm Grid. Securing the Master Code is one of the first steps to protecting your complete security system after installation.
