How Do I Find the Serial Number on a Honeywell Key Fob?

You can find the Serial Number on a Honeywell Key Fob by checking the sticker on the back. There will be a white sticker on the back of the device that lists the Serial Number. If the sticker has been removed, you can still find the Serial Number by auto-enrolling the key fob with a panel.

The easiest way to find the Serial Number for a Honeywell Key Fob is to just check the sticker on the back. For a Honeywell 5834-4, the Serial Number will consist of a letter and 7 digits. For a SiXFOB, the Serial Number will consist of 16 hexadecimal characters. The Serial Number sticker on a Honeywell 5834-4 can be seen in the picture below:

If the sticker is missing, you can still obtain the Serial Number by auto-enrolling the fob with the panel. The steps outlined below are appropriate for the Honeywell Lyric Controller and the Honeywell LYNX Touch Panels. Complete the following steps to obtain the key fob Serial Number through auto-enrollment:

1. Access programming. Start from the main screen of the Lyric or Lynx Panel. Choose Security > More (LYNX only) > Tools > Installer Code (default is 4112) > Program. You are now in programming mode.

2. Enter key fob enrollment. Select Keys. Then press "Add New" at the bottom. Then select the Serial Number field on the left. The panel is now in key fob enrollment.

3. Learn the Serial Number. For the 5834-4 and other 5800 series key fobs, press and hold one of the buttons on the key fob for two (2) seconds. Release the button. The panel will beep once. Repeat this process. The panel will beep twice, and the Serial Number will be displayed. Take note of the Serial Number.

To learn a SiXFOB (Lyric only), press the top two buttons of the fob at the same time. The two LED's at the top will begin to alternately flash. After a few moments, the serial number will be displayed. If you are only performing this procedure to find out the serial number, you can exit now. If you want to pair the key fob with the Lyric panel then press the top two buttons simultaneously again. The fob and the system will confirm pairing, and you will be taken back to the remainder of the key fob programming screen. Complete the remainder of the setup. Be sure to press "Save" before exiting the programming screen after all settings have been configured.

4. Exit the menu. Now that you know the Serial Number, you can exit programming. Keep pressing the return arrow in the upper-right corner of the screen until you are taken back to the home screen. If you are using a LYNX Touch, make sure to choose "Yes" when asked if you want to allow the installer to re-enter programming.
