How Do I Power On a DSC PowerSeries NEO?

You can power on a DSC PowerSeries NEO by connecting the panel to a compatible 16.5VAC, 40VA transformer and plugging in the transformer. You should also connect a backup battery to the system so that it stays powered on when the power goes out. A battery harness is included with the NEO.

In order to connect the NEO to its transformer, you will need some alarm wire. We have found that 18-2 cabling is best for the job. However, you can use similar gauge wire if you have that around instead. And if you have 4-conductor wire, then you can just leave 2 wires disconnected. Better yet, you can use a Honeywell LT-Cable and eliminate the need for preparing wires.

Remember that the transformer uses AC power, so polarity does not matter. Also remember to run the wires through the back of the metal enclosure before completing your connections. You won't be able to do that once the connection is complete. And make sure to bring your flat head screwdriver to complete the wiring process. You will need it at both the panel board and the transformer.

Complete the following steps to provide power to your DSC PowerSeries NEO Alarm Panel:

1. Connect to transformer. Connect the two wires at the transformer using a flat head screwdriver. Just loosen the screws on the transformer, insert the wire, and tighten the screws down to complete. Since this is AC power, polarity does not matter. Either colored wire can go to either terminal. Make sure the wires are nice and snug so that they do not come loose later.

2. Connect at panel board. Take the other end of the wire, and connect it to the AC terminals on the DSC PowerSeries NEO Board using a flat head screwdriver. These are the two terminals to the furthest left when you are facing the board. They are both labeled AC. It does not matter which color wire goes to which terminal. Again, make sure the connection is nice and snug.

3. Connect the backup battery. The DSC PowerSeries NEO comes with a battery harness for connecting a backup battery. Connect the appropriate end of the battery harness to the port on the panel board. The port is directly to the left of the AC terminals you just connected. Then take the other end and connect it to the battery. You will need to observe polarity for this step. The black connector should go to negative (-), and the red connector should go to positive (+). No screwdriver is needed for this step!

4. Plug in the transformer. Plug in the transformer to a standard wall outlet. Your DSC PowerSeries NEO System should then power on.
