Is the Honeywell L5200 Compatible w/ Alexa?

Yes, the Honeywell L5200 is compatible with Alexa. You can use spoken voice commands through Amazon Alexa to arm the system, check status, and perform automation scenes. The L5200 must be monitored and set up with Total Connect 2.0, and you must enable the TC2 Alexa Skill in the Alexa App.

Once you have set up the Total Connect 2.0 and Amazon Alexa integration, you can arm your system and check its status using verbal commands. Note that you cannot disarm using verbal commands. That feature was intentionally left out, as being able to disarm verbally would be a major security risk. And beyond arming and checking status, you can also perform automation scenes. This requires an L5100-ZWAVE Card, which is added to the L5200 Panel. The L5100-ZWAVE Card is what allows the L5200 to control Z-Wave devices. Also note that you can only perform complete automation scenes. You cannot control individual devices.

When you control your L5100-ZWAVE through spoken Alexa voice commands, the command is actually being sent to the Resideo AlarmNet360 Servers. These are the same servers that are used to host Total Connect 2.0. From there, AlarmNet forwards the command to your Honeywell L5200 Security System. The command will then be executed by the system, whether that means going into an armed state or performing an automation scene using the Honeywell L5100-ZWAVE Module.

In order to complete the integration between Total Connect 2.0 and Amazon Alexa, you must have your L5200 System set up with an alarm monitoring plan that includes access to Total Connect 2.0 for smart home automation functionality. The L5200 System must be connected with the AlarmNet360 Servers by using either a Honeywell L5100-WIFI IP Communicator or a compatible AlarmNet Cellular Communicator. The two most popular cellular communicators for the Honeywell L5200 are the Honeywell LTE-L57A (AT&T LTE) and the Honeywell LTE-L57V (Verizon LTE). If you need to upgrade the firmware for your L5200 prior to installing a new communicator, you can use the Honeywell LYNXTOUCH-MSD Firmware Updater Tool.

Note: After you upgrade a Honeywell L5200 System using a LYNXTOUCH-MSD Firmware Updater Tool, AlarmNet360 will then consider it to be a Honeywell L5210 System.
