Which Honeywell Panels is the SEM Compatible With?

The Honeywell Panels that the SEM is compatible with are the Honeywell VISTA P-Series Panels. The compatible systems include the VISTA 10P, 15P, 20P and 21iP. The panel must be from 2005 or newer, or it must have an appropriate PROM chip upgrade. The SEM connects with the panel's ECP bus.

An Alarm.com System Enhancement Module (SEM) serves as a cellular communicator for a security system. The module allows the system to connect with the Alarm.com Servers. This is somewhat unique for Honeywell VISTA Series Panel, as they would normally use the Total Connect 2.0 Service instead. The module also functions as a robust and ready Z-Wave controller for managing smart home devices.

The low VISTA P-Series Panels and most of their equivalents are compatible with the SEM. This includes the VISTA SIA Panels and many of the First Alert Systems. For the VISTA 21iP, its internal IP/GSM jumper switch must be set to OFF. You should make sure the alarm panel is powered down before adjusting the jumper position.

The general rule for the VISTA Systems when using the SEM is that the panel must have been manufactured in 2005 or later, or the PROM chip must be Revision 3.1 or newer. Remember that panels with PROM chips below 2.0 cannot be upgraded. Any panel with a prom chip revision starting with a 1 will need to be replaced entirely.

Please note that there are many versions of Alarm.com SEM Communicators available. These modules differ in terms of which cellular network they connect with. However, they have the same compatibility for all intents and purposes. They should all work, as long as the associated cellular network is still active. Also keep in mind that there is a DSC version of the SEM. This module is designed for use with the DSC PowerSeries Systems, and it will not work with Honeywell Vista Panels.
