Will My Qolsys IQ Remote Work With A Qolsys IQ Panel 4?

If you have an existing Qolsys IQ Remote it will likely work with the Qolsys IQ Panel 4. In order to be compatible, the IQ Remote must have P/N QW9104-840. To check the version, look for the part number on a sticker on the back of the keypad. You can also tell based on camera placement.

The Qolsys IQ Remote has had three (3) different part numbers within its lifetime so far. The original was P/N QW9102-840, which was replaced by P/N QW9103-840. Both of these versions were deprecated on 01/16/2019 by Qolsys. The most current touchscreen keypad is P/N QW9104-840. One striking difference between the first two keypads and the current version (as of November 2021) is camera placement. In the original two (2) versions, the front-facing camera was located at the upper right corner of the keypad. The latest version has the camera placed in the center of the keypad.

Checking camera placement is the easiest way to determine whether your IQ Remote is compatible with the Qolsys IQ Panel 4 or not. If the camera is located in the top-center of the IQ Remote, it is compatible. If the camera is located in the upper-right corner, it is not compatible. Another way you can tell is by checking the sticker on the back of the touchscreen keypad. If the P/N shows QW9104-840, it is compatible. If it shows QW9103-840 or QW9102-840 it is not compatible.

Below you can see the sticker located on the back of the Qolsys IQ Remote which shows the Part Number. In this case, P/N: QW9103-840. This IQ Remote is not compatible with the Qolsys IQ Panel 4.

The newest Qolsys IQ Remote offers a few upgrades from the original version. Aside from camera placement, which was changed to better match the Qolsys IQ Panel 2/2 Plus, the newest version of the IQ Remote has an Octa-core 1.4 GHz processor. It also supports dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WIFI. It has a 5MP camera, to match the specs for the camera on the IQ Panel 2 and 2 plus, and has a front-facing microphone to better support Two-Way Voice and improved battery management for longer standby time in the event of a power loss condition.

The Qolsys IQ Panel 4 can support up to three (3) IQ Remotes, but it also supports the use of up to five (5) Wireless PowerG Keypads (WS9LCDWF9, HS2LCDWF9, and HS2LCDWF9ENG) and up to two (2) Hardwired DSC Keypads (HS2LCD, HS2ICN) per DSC PG9WLSHW8 PowerG Wired to Wireless translator module. Up to two (2) modules are currently supported per panel, so up to four (4) of the wired keypads can be used. This gives a total of up to 12 remote keypads.
