Can I Update Honeywell Home TUXEDOW Firmware?

Yes, you can update Honeywell Home TUXEDOW firmware. The Tuxedo Keypad can be updated over-the-air (OTA) through AlarmNet. Critical firmware updates can be pushed down to the keypad automatically. The Resideo Tuxedo must be connected to WIFI and have its "Enable Remote Upgrade" feature turned ON.

For our purposes, the Resideo TUXEDOWC and the Honeywell Home TUXEDOW are basically the same product. The only difference between them is their model number, and the name displayed on the front of the keypad. For commercial installations, some customers don't like the word "Home" being displayed prominently on their equipment. For this reason, Resideo makes two separate product lines of basically the same equipment, with the exception of branding. The firmware version, features, and compatibility between the two lines are identical.

Resideo and Honeywell Home may periodically release new firmware for the TUXEDOW and TUXEDOWC Keypads. The purpose of these updates is to apply new features to the keypad and to improve device performance. The updates are pushed down to the keypad automatically, when possible. There is no need to manually apply the updates at the keypad as long as it has a WIFI connection. You just need to make sure you have the update feature enabled and have the keypad ready.

There are a few requirements that must be met before the keypad will begin downloading a new update. The "Enable Remote Upgrade" feature must be turned on. If the keypad is connected with a Honeywell VISTA System, then the system must be Disarmed and have no faulted zones or trouble conditions. There must also be no zones in alarm memory, no low battery conditions, no AC loss condition, and the panel cannot be in programming mode. Also note that updates cannot be applied if the Tuxedo is in Demo Mode or Safe Mode, or if there is an ECP error. Once the keypad is ready, any available critical update will be applied automatically. No prompt will be displayed for a critical update. The Tuxedo will reboot automatically about (15) seconds after the firmware update is applied. Once again, this assumes that the keypad is connected to WIFI and the "Enable Remote Upgrade" feature is enabled.

A common reason why an available critical update may not be applied is that the "Enable Remote Upgrade" feature is not turned ON. This feature can be turned ON locally at the keypad. From the main screen of the TUXEDOW or TUXEDOWC, click the settings icon (the gear) at the bottom of the screen. Then select System Info. Make sure the box for "Enable Remote Upgrade" is checked. Then return home by pressing the picture of the house in the upper-right corner.

For those customers who don't have access to WIFI for their TUXEDOW or TUXEDOWC, an update can be applied using a Micro SD or Micro SDHC Card. The firmware files can be downloaded from our site here. The Micro SD or Micro SDHC card should be between 8GB and 32GB in capacity. Read the full update instructions here.

Hey Victor, Yeah I'm told the 2003 version will have some updates in the coming firmware as well. It does currently work better than the 2007 though. Associating thermostats through the Tuxedo is for WIFI thermostats only. These are ZWave thermostats. That would explain your error. ZWave thermostats get learned in through ZWave inclusion mode. Also, the Tuxedo uses its own WIFI connection to speak to various servers, it does not use the 21ip for that. https://www.alarmgrid.com/faq/how-do-i-enroll-and-use-my-wifi-thermostat-with-the-new-tuxedo-a
Hi Fred, OK, thanks for the reply. I just hooked up a T6 TH6320ZW2003 to see how it would behave. It does work better than the 2007. But, the TUXEDOW still associates in z-wave as a Generic Thermostat and doesn't recognize that it's a T6. Supposedly Honeywell tested the 2003 because it is listed as a compatible device. But... The only way to get the 2003 to go into Away mode is to manually select the Energy Saving button in the Device screen for that thermostat. The TUXEDOW isn't telling the 2003 to go into Away mode when you arm the system. That's not very helpful. Totalconnect sees it as a generic thermostat as well, and sometimes does odd things with the temperature settings, but not quite as bad as the 2007. Also, there is another problem. I have set up an account on totalconnectcomfort.com and verified it worked by installing a RTH9585WF1004 (Honeywell Wifi Color Touchscreen 9000) . It works fine with that and totalconnect sees it too. HOWEVER, if I try to associate in the Thermostat screen on the TUXEDOW by entering the login info for totalconnectcomfort.com, I always get a network connect error. This is odd, since I can access the TUXEDOW via its IP address, and of course totalconnect.com works with the TUXEDOW (although it is probably going through the Vista21ip) Just for fun, I enabled the hotspot on my phone and set the TUXEDOW wifi to that (it was a 192.168 address, of course). I was able to login to the TUXEDOW via its new 168 IP address. And totalconnect still saw it (which I guess verifies that it sees the TUXEDOW via the Vista. I tried the phone hotspot as a way to try to prove that I didn't have a firewall problem. Is there some known problem with TUXEDOW talking to totalconnectcomfort.com? Just for fun, I tried to register the TUXEDOW on totalconnectcomfort.com but it didn't like that.
Hey Victor, Resideo has found some compatibility issues with the TH6320ZW2007 and TuxedoW. These are being addressed in the next firmware release for the TuxedoW. Scheduling should be done through automation scenes once included. Fix is coming. No ETA currently, tho.
Another bug in the TUXEDOW that has not been fixed in the current version is that it doesn't work properly with the Pro Z-Wave T6 (TH6320ZW2007). It's claimed that it works with the TH6320ZW2003. We'll see. I ordered on. When you associate the ZW2007 version TUXEDOW just says it's a generic thermostat and doesn't support any scheduling or programming except to change the basic thermostat. There seems to be a real left-hand/right-had problem here.
Does the Vista automatically update even if not connected to alarm360?
Hey Jon, There is still not an update from the manufacturer about an update for the TuxedoW. Please keep watching our Blogs for more information.
Still no update....?
Sorry for the upsetting news, you can subscribe to our blog at http://feeds.feedburner.com/alarmgrid/blog That way when an update does go live, you will know about it.

Hi Jon, The latest update to firmware was 10/01/2020.
ANy update to Tuxedo firmware? Still waiting and hoping....!
Yes - it looks like the current version does not support secondary controllers and doesn't play well with legacy Tuxedo units! Will have to wait for an update!
I'm seeing that this is the issue with the TUXEDOW that I purchased - not being able to either be secondary controller or actually have a secondary controller paired to it! What is the current version of TUXEDOW firmware?
