Do 2GIG Keypads Need Firmware Updates?

Some 2GIG Keypads need firmware updates. Specifically, the 2GIG Touchscreen Keypads need the panel to be running a high enough firmware version to support them. If the system is not running a high enough firmware version, then the system's firmware must be upgraded before adding the keypad.

A keypad provides a secondary on-site access point for controlling an alarm system. The advantage to using a keypad is that a user won't have to run to a different area of the building when they want to arm or disarm their system. For example, a user might have one keypad by their front door and another by their back door. This way, they can conveniently arm and disarm their system no matter which entrance they use to come and go,

For 2GIG, all of their touchscreen keypads require that the main panel is running a high enough firmware version. The end user will need to update the system firmware if it is not running a high enough version. The 2GIG Touchscreen Keypads include the 2GIG SP1 and 2GIG SP2 for the 2GIG GC3 System and the 2GIG TS1 for the 2GIG GC2 System, Meanwhile, the 2GIG PAD1-345 is a push-button keypad that will work with both the GC2 and GC3 Systems on any firmware version.

If you have a 2GIG GC3, you can choose between the SP1 and SP2 Keypads. The SP1 requires firmware version 3.1.0.5572 or higher, while the SP2 requires firmware version 3.0.2 or higher. The SP1 offers certain features not found on the SP2, including voice annunciation, home automation capabilities and displaying a 5-day weather forecast. If you have a 2GIG GC2, then the 2GIG TS1 is the only touchscreen option available. This keypad requires that the 2GIG GC2 System is running firmware version 1.10 or higher.
