Does the Qolsys IQ5 NS Have a Settings Tray on the Panel?

No. The IQ5 NS does not have a settings tray because it does not have a touchscreen display. The IQ5 NS is a screenless security panel built for app-based management only. To access all system settings and configuration options on the IQ5 NS, use the IQ Installer app for iOS and Android.

Before You Begin

The IQ5 NS (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE versions) has no touchscreen and therefore no settings tray. All settings that would normally appear in a swipe-down tray on the IQ Panel 5 or IQ5 Hub are accessed through the IQ Installer app instead. If you have not yet connected the IQ Installer app to your panel, see our guide on setting up the IQ5 NS with the IQ Installer app before proceeding.

The default Master Code is 1234 and the default Installer Code is 1111, but both should be changed during initial setup. The IQ5 NS works with PowerG sensors, PowerG Automation, Z-Wave devices, and Bluetooth accessories as part of a complete security system platform. All configuration is performed through the IQ Installer app on your mobile device.

Why the IQ5 NS Has No Settings Tray

The IQ5 NS is designed as a screenless security system panel that relies entirely on app-based control. Unlike the IQ Panel 5 and IQ5 Hub which feature 7-inch touchscreens with swipe-down settings trays, the IQ5 NS communicates through LED indicators and audio feedback. This design makes the IQ5 NS ideal for installations where a discreet panel is preferred or where users primarily manage their system through smartphones.

The settings tray on touchscreen panels provides quick access to volume, brightness, WIFI status, cellular signal, and other controls without entering a code. On the IQ5 NS, these same controls are available through the IQ Installer app menus, organized by category for easy navigation.

How to Access Settings on the IQ5 NS

To configure the IQ5 NS, connect your mobile device to the same WIFI network as the panel, then open the IQ Installer app and pair it using the QR code on the back of the panel. The app provides access to all settings including sensor programming, user code management, Z-Wave device enrollment, WIFI configuration, and system tests.

For daily use, the Alarm.com app provides remote arming, disarming, and home automation control when paired with a monitoring plan. The IQ Installer app is used by installers and advanced users for system programming, while the Alarm.com app handles everyday operation from a smartphone.

Panels with a Settings Tray

If you prefer a panel with an on-screen settings tray for quick adjustments to volume, brightness, and other controls, consider the IQ Panel 5 or IQ5 Hub. Both panels feature 7-inch touchscreens with swipe-down settings trays that provide instant access to common settings without entering codes. The IQ Panel 5 and IQ5 Hub also include built-in cameras, glass break detection, and weather displays that are not available on the screenless IQ5 NS.
