Can I Mount a WAVE2 Siren Outside?

The Honeywell Wave2 siren is not weatherproof and is recommended for indoor installations. The Wave2 siren's operating temperature ranges from 20F - 175F. Users can install the siren in an attic next to a vent so the siren can project its sound outside. It has a DB rating of 106dB so neighbors will be sure to hear the Wave2 when an alarm occurs.

The WAVE2 is a hardwired two tone siren that can provide both steady and warble sounds. Connect a wire to Terminal 1 for steady (positive), or Terminal 2 for warble (positive) and Ground (negative). Unlike wireless self contained alarm panels like the Lynx Touch Series, Lyric and 2GIG which have a built in sounder, a, hardwired control panel needs to have a siren installed in order to provide an alarm sound when an audible zone is triggered. Without a siren, the only sound will come from the alarm keypads.

The siren’s dimensions are 3.25"W x 4.25"H x 2"D which makes it easily fit in small places. It can be mounted vertically or horizontally and is designed to be mounted on a wall, ceiling, or in a corner without having to use brackets, a shelf, or additional hardware. The WAVE 2 is also designed to fit a single gang box, and has a built in siren driver. It is listed for UL Residential Fire, UL Residential Burg and UL Commercial Burg.

The WAVE2 has a current draw of 500mA @ 12VDC. It's good to check power calculations on your system, and if an auxiliary power supply is needed, either the AD12612 or the SMP3 make for good options.

The Honeywell WAVE2 siren is compatible with the Honeywell Vista control panels or any 12 Volt DC hardwired control panel. It is also compatible with the Honeywell Lynx Touch series control panel when paired with a Lynx-EXT or Lynx-WEXT converter kit.

This is probably a question that is best answered via email, rather than in this board. Can you please email this information to support@alarmgrid.com and in addition to the information provided above, let us know what you mean when you say the siren "lights up". Did the bedroom keypad ever work?
I have a very weird situation...here is the background... home built in 2003 - at that time the home had all wiring done...two keypad, 1 siren, 2 motion sensors and other door/window 16 sensors (total system had 8 zones created). The system was a honeywell 15p vista I believe. I just upgraded the system and am in the process of looking at one particular wire setup. This was a wire run for a keypad that uses a 22/4 wire (black, red, green and yellow) going back to the central panel. When i tone out this 22/4 wire from the panel location to the bedroom where the keypad was - I get no tone. The wires seem to be dead. Near the bedroom the installer put the wired siren. The siren is connected via 22/2 (black and red), Here is the weird thing - If I put the tone generator on the 22/4 wire at the bedroom and use the probe to find the wire. The siren lights up. This 22/2 wire that connects the siren does not go down to the basement where the main panel is. It appears that the siren is somehow connected to the keypad. I do not see any junction boxes and again this was new construction at the time. Any thoughts?
